No longer being in Japan cramps my style. But I'll live.
So while Matsuoka is not the director of the newest PV *sniffles*, it is a fantastic one and Universal Music put up info on it on
the TOKIO site. It's glorious and I can't wait to see the complete version*. Less than three weeks!!!
[SEISYuN] Video Clip
○Filmed: 2007.Oct.3 (Wed)
○Location: Teihyu Saitama Factory Remains
○Screenplay・Director: Kaneko Shusuke
■Details:
TOKIO's new song, [SEISYuN] is the theme song to the currently airing TBS Friday night drama [Utahime] starring Nagase Tomoya.
The charisma of the music world, Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi, answered TOKIO's request and wrote this passionate rock number for them and the movie director, Kaneko Shusuke, created a short-movie style video clip for this song.
He is know as the "Number One Monster Movie Man" for being the only director to film both "Gamera" and "Godzilla" movies. Recently he has gained acclaimed for writing and directing movies with a human touch such as "Death Note" and "Death Note the Last Name". His image for this video clip is: "In the near future, the world is ruled by machines, young men set off for a final battle against the robot army with the fate of mankind on the line." With an obviously harder line than TOKIO's previous PVs, it is filled with Kaneko's world of bullets, action scenes and robot CG.
The martial arts practice scenes with Yamguchi vs Matsuoka and Matsuoka vs Nagase were filmed with care and are definite highlights of the video clip.
There is a complete version of this video clip which consists of the main part, created as a music video, and a prologue and epilogue. While the members of TOKIO have stared in my dramas and movies, this is the first time all five have worked together on something with dialogue. The prologue part is 3 minutes and 30 seconds long, but the members worked seriously to get into character under the direction of Mr. Kaneko.
[SEISYuN] is Mr.Kaneko's first music video, video clip.
■Setting of the world:
It seems the world has been taken over by an "enemy". Five young men exist like guerillas; while chased, it appears they are living in a hideout and preparing to fight. But without joining any large society, they joined under Leader. To them, this is happiness and this team means a lot.
On this day, they meet at their hideout after moving around seperately for a long time. Today, they set off for their final battle.
What is this "enemy" they are going up against?
■Character settings:
Leader: Brings everyone together. Kind and generous, with his words they all feel safe and are brought together.
Tatsuya: While he is a great cook and a fine athlete, he takes the role of supporting the team.
Taichi: The brains, he makes the plans.
Masahiro: He is humorous. He watches the team as a whole. On the other side of his humor, he is passionate, but he does not show it.
Tomoya: Passionate, yet calm. He fights on the front line.
