Creation seems to come out of imperfection. It seems to come out of a striving and a frustration. And this is where I think language came from. I mean, it came from our desire to transcend our isolation and have some sort of connection with one another. And it had to be easy when it was just simple survival. Like, you know, "water." We came up with

Giving me something intelligent to read at 8 in the morning. Just the thing to wake me up!
Now, did you write this? Lots of big words, love it!
But anyway, I read the whole thing.
And while you know right away that there are going to be certain things that I disagree with...I also agree with a lot.
First things first. If you know anything about the Bible, you know that I do not believe that man created language. Nor did man create the various languages we speak today. Although, the variations and dialects in those languages I do believe were brought upon by man, for obvious reasons.
I too over-analyze words at times. Where did this come from? What does it mean? Why is it pronounced like this? And I'll sit and say it over and over, trying to make sense of a word that I've said my entire life. But now it just sounds funny. And from time to time I have though, "How do our bodies react so quickly?" When I can have a conversation with someone and my mother can't even understand because we are speaking so fast. And yet, they heard it, processed the information, and responded, in a second.
Just yesterday I was reading and I stared at the words, trying to see them as what they were: letters. When we read, we just read. We don't think about it. But I did, and it made it rather hard to read. All I could see where the letters, and while I knew what the words were, I could not hear them in my head, and I could not understand them in the context.
So maybe we're not supposed to really understand language? Yes, it is something that we thrive on. It's something that fuels our existence because without interaction we are lonely, bitter people. But many men have driven themselves insane for thinking too much.
Sometimes I feel as if people have completely forgotten that we are all connected. Whenever I hear someone say "it's a small world" I wonder if they really understand that! Our choices really do effect everyone. There is one giant chain connecting everyone together. One small action can change the lives of people you've never met. It's a scary thought, but an important one. I see fewer and fewer people setting examples these days.
Because its just like you said, everyone wants to whine about something. They didn't have the perfect little family, they didn't have a lot of money, they didn't get a good education. Boo hoo. Do you see the miracle stories? Do you know anything about history? The little guy can always overcome his problems and be greater than those who have had everything handed to them. Because when you work for it, you hone it, and its something beautiful.
In a strange way our bodies do function like robots. I'm kind of glad about that though. It saves us a whole lot of trouble. What if every time we wanted to breathe, we first had to concentrate on it? Or walk? Or talk? Or blink? Or eat? Or scratch our back? We would never be able to multi-task, that's for sure.
So yes, I believe our bodies are a bit robot-like, but I believe that our souls are real and intangible. Our bodies ground us to this earth and help us along. But they are not who we are. We are not robots.
Our free will is a gift, a beautiful gift. It makes us who we are. We do form our own opinions, we do form our own pasts. As a Christian I believe that God knows what we're going to do...but I look at it more as he sees the future that WE'RE going to make. And that his vision changes everything we have a life-altering experience. Now I'm not sure that's what other Christians believe, but it's what makes sense in my head.
