The Original Trilogy with my nephew
After a week's break, Logan and I continued our Star Wars Saga marathon.
A New Hope
Opening Credits:
Logan: Where's Vader? Do we see him first?
Me: We'll see him in a minute.
*Vader boards the Tantive.
Logan: There he is!
*Vader fanboy in the making. I'm so proud!*
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."
Logan: Obi-Wan? Oh, that's right he gets killed by Vad...Anakin. I'm just going to call him Anakin.
"A young Jedi named Darth Vader murdered your father."
Logan: He just lied! Vader is his dad!
Me: I know, but Ben doesn't want him to know yet.
*Logan keeps calling Luke Anakin.*
Throne Room Scene:
Logan: Is he going to marry her
Me: Han?
Logan: No, Anakin.
Me: (puzzled, then horrified) Luke?! NO! That's his sister!
Logan: Oh yeah, I keep forgetting.
Logan: Why didn't the monster get a medal? That's not fair!
*refers to Chewy as the monster*
The Empire Strikes Back
Opening scene of Luke on the Taun-Taun:
Logan: There's Luke Skywalker!
*Thank God he's finally calling him Luke instead of Anakin."
In the Wampa's lair trying to summon his lightsaber:
Logan: He's trying to think about the Force.
Me: Yeah.
Logan: Does it work?
Me: Just watch.
Han finds Luke in the snow:
Logan: What is he doing?!
Me: He's putting Luke inside the Wampa to keep him warm.
Logan: Yuck! Did he get all of that stuff out first?
Me: No, the guts are going to keep Luke warm.
*I wish you could see the face he made.
Luke in the bacta tank:
Logan: Who's that?
Me: That's Luke. He's in a tank full of medicine.
Logan: Why?
Me: He got sick from being in the cold for so long.
Logan: Oh.
The infamous Luke and Leia kiss:
Logan: (horrified) Do those 2 know they're brother and sister?!
Me: No.
Logan: They like each other?!
Me: (uncomfortable) Kinda sorta.
Logan: That's messed up, I mean it. That is messed up.
Me: (laughing) Leia really likes Han, though.
First shot of the Executor:
Logan: That's the biggest ship I've ever seen!
Me: It's Vader's ship.
Logan: Oh, so his is the biggest?
Me: Yeah.
*Must not say anything about Vader's being the biggest.*
Vader force-chokes Ozzel:
Logan: How did he kill that guy?
Me: With the Force.
Logan: How did he do it from that far away?
Me: Vader's just that strong.
Logan: (impressed) Gah!
Luke blows up AT-AT:
Logan: Pretty smart idea to use a grenade.
Me: Well, Luke's pretty smart.
Han and Leia trying to escape Hoth. Vader walking through the base:
Logan: Uh oh, they better hurry up!
Han and Leia kiss:
Logan: Do they like each other?
Me: Yep.
Luke / Vader duel:
Logan: Vader's so strong that he can fight with one hand!
Falcon escapes Vader:
Logan: Is he mad that they got away?
Me: He's not happy about it.
Logan: Why isn't he killing everybody? He usually kills everyone when he's mad.
Return of the Jedi
Opening credits:
Logan: This is the ending.
*A couple of minutes pass.
Logan: You know, the Sith Lord (meaning Palpatine) hasn't been out in awhile, but he's in this one.
Yoda's death scene:
Logan: Go to sleep already. He's annoying.
Me: He's not sleeping. He's dying.
Logan: Oh. (pauses) He still needs to hurry up.
*A Yoda fanboy he is not.*
Luke/Leia catwalk scene on Endor:
Logan: I bet he regrets kissing her now!
Me: (laughing) Yeah, but Leia is really the one that kissed him.
Logan: It's still messed up.
He really liked the Ewoks.
Luke / Vader duel:
*Luke cuts off Vader's hand.*
Logan: You know, he gets his arms cut off too often.
*A couple of minutes pass.*
Logan: Is Luke going to kill Vader?
Me: NO!
Logan: Oh, because he knows he's his dad.
Me: That's right. Luke refuses to kill his dad, and Vader dies to protect Luke from the Emperor.
Logan: So, Anakin isn't a Sith anymore?
Me: That's right. He becomes a Jedi again as he dies.
Logan: So, does Luke save Vader?
Me: In a way.
Logan: Vader's a Jedi now?
Me: Yes.
Logan: Cool. He becomes a Jedi again and goes to Heaven. That's a good thing.
He asked me last night if he could watch one of my movies. When I said yes, he picked out TPM to watch. He then informed me that Episodes I and IV are his favorite SW movies. I was a bit shocked when he said TPM was his favorite. I think he identifies with Anakin in TPM since they are the same age, and he thinks it's cool that Anakin can build things.
After watching the entire saga, he says that his favorite characters are (in order): Luke, Obi-Wan, Artoo, and Vader. I'm not sure how Obi-Wan made it onto the list because he never really said much about Obi-Wan.
It was quite an experience watching the saga with Logan. After so many viewings, it was fun to watch with someone who hasn't been jaded by fandom.
