The OS released an
article today outlining the tentative schedule for the next 3 years of novels. The list is completely uninspiring. Out of 21 books, I'm excited about or interested in 5 books. Yay.
The complete list is behind the cut, and it is dominated by books set post-LotF. Mindor isn't on the list for 2009, but I'm guessing it was omitted because it falls under the old publishing contract.
It looks like I will have a lot of money available to spend catching up on the trades. Dark Horse thanks you, LFL and Del Rey.
2009
Outcast (Fate of the Jedi) - Aaron Allston. Nope.
Blood Oath (post LotF) - Elaine Cunningham. I don't care about Zekk, and it would take more than a Zekk novel to get me to read a book set post-LotF. Besides, I didn't like Dark Journey.
Enigma (Fate of the Jedi) - Christie Golden. A newcomer to SW, but I refuse to read FotJ. Sorry, Christie.
No Prisoners (Clone Wars) - Karen Traviss. Maybe, but I'm sick of the Clone Wars.
501st. (Imperial Commando) - Karen Traviss. Meh.
Fate of the Jedi 3 - Troy Denning. Hell will freeze over first.
Untitled Stand Alone - Joe Schreiber. Another new author. No word yet on subject or timeframe. I'll withhold judgment for now.
The Clone Wars 4 - Karen Miller. Again, sick of clones.
2010
Darth Bane 3 - Drew Karpyshyn. Yay! Finally something to look forward to. Two years from now. :|
Fate of the Jedi 4 - Aaron Allston. Nope
Untitled Stand Alone - Paul Kemp. Another new author. No word yet on subject or timeframe. I'll withhold judgment for now.
Fate of the Jedi 5 - Christie Golden. Nope.
Imperial Commando 2 - Karen Traviss. Meh.
The Clone Wars 5 - Karen Miller. Another meh.
Fate of the Jedi 6 - Troy Denning. Not no, but hell no.
Untitled Stand Alone - Alex Irvine. Another newcomer. This one is supposed to be about "ancient Jedi". Taking a wait-and-see approach.
Fate of the Jedi 7 - Aaron Allston. Nope.
2011
Fate of the Jedi 8 - Christie Golden. Nope.
Fate of the Jedi 9 - Troy Denning. Del Rey is letting Denning write the final book in another mega-series because he did such a great job the last time. *rolls eyes*
Boba Fett novel - Karen Traviss. Meh. Only Karen can make me give a rip about Boba, but I have my limits. I'm not sure I want to read an entire novel about him. No word yet on timeframe. This one is guaranteed to work the fanboyz in a lather if it changes any of the holy and precious Boba/Mando continuity.
Untitled Novel - Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff. No word on subject or timeframe, but I really like Michael Reaves. He's earned the benefit of the doubt.
