Thoughts on GoF

First off, may I say that I'm completely bewildered by the events of Friday night. I expected the big name theaters in Little Rock proper to sell out, I even expected there to be large crowds at the other area theaters. But for the tiny little, family owned, completely out in the boonies theater to sell out three hours before start time? WTF?

We started out with plans to take Ryann and Tyffany to see the 7pm GoF. We arrived an hour before the show to find out the only available show started at 9:40, too late to keep little ones out. Ryann would have been fine, she survived the midnight PoA, but Tyffany is only 6.

So I bought tickets for GoF on the sly and we took the girls to see Zathura. If you liked Jumanji you'll probably like Zathura. I was sitting there going, this isn't about two brothers, this is about my two cousins. Very cute movie. Ryann has decided she is going to marry the Astronaut.

So. Then there was Goblet of Fire. Overall I liked it, even if I was disappointed. I expected disappointment though, so I think that helped me to enjoy it more.

1. Snape thwapping Harry and Ron during study hall. I've never been a Snape fan, but after seeing this movie I'm conflicted.

2. The pretteth of the Yule Ball. The costuming on this was just... *contented sigh*. Poor Ron, he stuck out like a sore thumb.

3. The graveyard scene. Overall it was *loves*. See below for minor disappointment.

4. Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing Ferret. Just *happies*. If I could have one magical power it would be the ability to turn people into ferrets so that I could bounce them.

5. The Weasley twins. As my mother said, 'Man, they've got the twin thing down.' Me: 'Umm, they are twins.' Mother: 'Well, you know what I mean.' Sadly, I don't think I do. But I did enjoy every moment they were on screen.

6. Neville. Too precious with the dancing. Too sweet with the Ginny. Too tug-at-your-heart with the Unforgivable Curses.

1. Alright. I don't like the house elfs. I really don't. But I did find myself missing Dobby and Winky. And S.P.E.W!Hermione.

2. Just what was Padma Patil doing in the Gryffindor common room?

3. While in the end it really doesn't matter, it made me somewhat sad to not hear the 'you will revive your son', 'you will revive your master' and 'you will revive your enemy' bits as Wormtail prepared the spell during the Graveyard scene.

4. Why didn't the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione sit in the Minister's Box?

5. The tongue flicker thing. Eww?

6. Where were our beloved Blast-Ended Skrewts?

While in the end I did enjoy the movie I'm finding myself picking at it, finding faults and reasons to not like it. Little things that really don't matter in the end, but I'm picky enough to want to at least hear mention of them.
