My mom grew up on a farm and we still have the property (some 900+ acres). We routinely go to the farm for weekends and during Spring Break and have for all my life. This past Spring Break the boys, myself, and Granny headed off to the farm (as usual) and I got to check on my rat!
My rat? YES! When I was in 7th grade I discovered in one of the eaves of the barn the body of a rat that had accidentally (I hope) hung itself. And every time I've gone back to the farm, checking on the rat is one of my highest priorities. This rat has been there for close to nineteen years now and there is very little change in his appearance from when I first discovered him to now. Yes, there's a bit more holes in the body, but hell. He's still there...
In this pic, you can clearly see the crack in the board he fell down. I'm guessing he was walking up in the loft and slipped or something or other.
And now here is a close up! When I first found him his skin was pretty much hairless and the color it is in the pic. There just weren't that many holes. On the other side of the board is his skull and that, being much more exposed to the elements than his body, is just a skull now (but when I found it his head was still head-like and his mouth was all open in a gagging look and his tongue was hanging out the side cartoon like). lol
Yeah. I won't quit my day job to be a photographer, but I just wanted to share the joy of my rat!
