This afternoon at lunch we spent a fair amount of time discussing what methods parents might use to stop kids from having sex and/or getting pregnant in the world of Harry Potter. As Amy pointed out, chances are someone at Hogwarts was getting it on somewhere. Room of requirement anyone? One idea was a charm by the parents so that the kid didn't have sex. A few flaws: 1) could you only do it on your kid or could someone else undo it? 2) what about muggle born kids? Another was that Hogwarts itself had a few charms in place so that anyone desiring to have sex there would be interrupted. As in, they fly apart from each other, bells and whistles go off, a howler gets sent to their headmaster, etc. Needless to say, it was an amusing lunch conversation.
