Hurricane Dennis and a huge-ass Monk rant
To everyone who is in the path of Dennis, take care of yourselves. He'll be visiting Tennessee tonight and tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll have some rain out of it. But, damn, parts of Florida got slammed! I hope everyone's okay down there.

I've recently got hooked on the show Monk, and, well, I'm not feeling the love for a certain character who I, personally, really, really like. So, I'm gonna be a highly opinionated, brutally honest gal and tell it like it is, yo. This is not meant to upset those who disagree with my views, but I just have to get this off my chest cuz it's making me nuts. I'm not posting this to a comm; no way, man...I'll get nasty replies. Instead, I'm posting it in my journal, where it's safe to speak my mind.
I hate, loathe, and detest people who make me feel guilty for liking something.
And that's exactly what I'm feeling right now.
I like Natalie. She's a strong-willed, competent, balls-to-the-wall kind of woman, and I respect that. Traylor Howard is having to fill some pretty big shoes by coming in as a new character of a well-known, loved show. She deserves props for steppin' up and takin' charge. She is not Sharona, so get the hell over it already! Jeez, I'm so fuckin' sick and tired of every single board talking about the same shit: "We want Sharona back! Natalie's boring" blah, blah, blah. Again, get over it! I'm loving everything they're doing, and I've been watching for a long time; however, it wasn't until I saw Natalie snarking at Monk that I decided to become a die-hard fan and supporter of their budding relationship. I enjoy their chemistry together -- and yes, dammit, they have chemsitry; great chemistry. It's obvious to me that Tony Shalhoub and Traylor are having a ton of fun, so why degrade their hard work by saying you hate their scenes together? Honestly, if these so-called fans can't adapt to change, they should just stop watching the show, man. Quit ruining it for the rest of us. (I know I should just ignore the morons, but I can't...and I won't. It's how I am.)
Give the poor woman time to develop her character. I think she's improved a lot since "Mr. Monk and the Red Herring". I will admit she got on my nerves a bit in her intro, but soon after, I started to see her potential, and now, I'm totally cool with her working with Monk. They're a damn good team, and they're getting closer with each new episode. She's slowly becoming more patient and understanding, and Adrian is slightly becoming better with his OCD. They're growing as people, and that's a good thing.
With all that said, for the love of God, can anyone point me to a place where I can openly discuss Natalie/Adrian without being fuckin' attacked? I thought about creating a comm for them, but I'd probably get trolls and crazy ass people dogging me and pissing me off, so, that's out. And, dude, that's too bad because I've got 10 icons that I'd love to share with other shippers, I've got fanfic ideas brewing like crazy in my head, and nowhere to put them. :(
