NTA Doctor Who drama

Last night was the NTAs (National Television Awards)in London. DW was nominated for two: Best Dramatic Show and Matt Smith for Best Dramatic Actor. Think of this like the People's Choice Awards in the US -- you vote online and wait for the show to be televised to find out the winners. Well, this is the first time in five years DW didn't win ( Read more... )

I'm not gonna lie, I put n my trolling gloves for a little while on Tumblr last night. All the Tennant stans (and even a few Eccleston fans!) were going on about how it's because David's no longer the Doctor, etc etc, Moff's head is on the block, Matt needs to be fired, etc etc. PISSED. ME. THE FUCK. OFF. Seriously, the diehard Tennant fans are an embarrassment to the poor man; knowing how big a fan he is, if I were him I'd be ashamed as hell that these people who call themselves my fans are slagging off the current team because they didn't win an asspat award.

And Moff and Matt getting fired, DW on the chopping block? LOL no. The BBC would be out of their ever-loving minds to do anything to one of their flagship shows, and besides all anyone has to do is look at the ratings to see how damn good S5 went, critically.

And yeah, I'm in the split vote camp; it's actually the first thing I thought of when this shit started. Many, many DW fans like Sherlock too, and figured DW was a shoo-in, so they voted for Sherlock. Result? This carnage.

Anyway, haters gon hate and like you, I'm basically staying the hell away from the debate from now on. It's honestly not worth the price my blood pressure and anxiety pays for it.

P.S. Anyone who says Matt can't act can kiss my ass. Same goes for Arthur Darvill. Both of them were nominated for the Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer (in the same year!), which I understand is a bit of an honor! And Matt's already headlined two very successful West End shows. Arthur wrote one. For such relatively young men, they're already doing quite well for themselves.

(yeah I'm a fan of both but I'm a staunch defender of Rory/Arthur so I'm legally obligated to give him his due props whenever applicable. :D)

LOL! You can drive-by comment anytime. I know you from the doctoreleven LJ community. I usually keep my thoughts to myself, but last night, I could not stay quiet any longer! Nobody attacks Mattie, dammit!

Matt has loads of chances ahead to win awards. He's sticking to DW for awhile -- he said so himself, so it's not like he lost his only chance to win. *Rolls eyes at the trolls* And, yes, you're right; both Matt and Arthur have done really well for themselves already. They're just getting warmed up -- I think they will have great careers for many years to come.

I think it's so cute how Matt wanted Arthur to play Rory from the beginning. Getting work for his best mate like a boss! Matt knew who Rory was, he also knew how Eleven should dress. He obviously knows what he's doing. ;)

(I defend Matt/Eleven like you do Rory/Arthur, so we have mutual love of our "boys")
