Annoyed...
Okay, for a first time mother who is trying her darndest to be a successful breastfeeder, this really really makes me irritated.
Matt and I were at Borders yesterday afternoon, passing some time before meeting friends for dinner. While there, Sariah decided that she was hungry. No big deal, right? I cover up with an oversized blanket, and nurse her. I'm not showing anything, so what's the problem? Never in my life have I been more offended by the looks that some of the people in the store gave me. It was obvious what I was doing (plus Sariah is an insanely loud eater), but I was completely covered up, so why should it matter. They wouldn't give a bottle-feeding mother a look, would they? So why, WHY is it different for me, someone who is really trying and struggling to give her daughter the VERY BEST.. This wasn't just men either, I got looks from an old woman, a young man, and two mid-aged women... Grrr.
I have no idea why this bothered me as much as it did...
