Olympic USWNT game 1
So they sort of stunk up the joint. They let Sweden control the pace and never managed to assert themselves. Which is a feather in the cap for Sweden, who previously did not play nearly as aggressively and limited the US by infamous bunker techniques. Rough loss, but the joy of group stage play is that they get two more, Australia and New Zealand, and then two third place teams also advance with all the 1st and 2nd placers. So there's hope if they can improve, which shouldn't be a problem. Especially with a NZ team that hasn't played much together as the next in line. But for today, they finish day 1 last in the group and I'm sure the usual pundits will be wringing their hands and crying alligator tears. Which are like crocodile tears, apparently, but happen when people get upset I mangle a cliche.
