Just forcing myself to put words onto the screen right now, to keep up on this idea of a writing thing. Technical term right there...

Fleet Academy 2, the sequel to my self-pubbed YA science fiction, is plotted and partially written. It's just been years because I haven't felt like revisiting that world. The characters aren't speaking to me. Which is not how writing is supposed to work...they are supposed to dance at my whims and not the other way, but I never claimed to have a masterful writing process. I'm not a in-the-chair-1000-words-or-else sort of writer. I'm "the mood struck me today and I did 15,000 words before I remembered some real life problem and now I won't return for a month or three." I'm easily derailed, in other words.

Semi-related, I used to old "Spoons" idea for mental energy out loud for the first time recently. It sounded as weird as it felt. I've read about the idea for a while, but my wife and I just read a book for our book club that referenced it so now there was a common point of reference. Interesting idea, but I'm still going to find it a strange metric.
