Tobias Andersen is a top capo in the soul-trafficking crime family of the archdemon Labal. He's the new head of collections, handling the lucrative business of letting marks buy their souls back, with interest. Other than keeping an eye out for the embezzling former head of collections, who wants him dead, and all Labal's enemies who want to torture him before they kill him, he's trying to manage a team of demonic misfits. Tobias juggles a committed relationship trying to keep his partner and his coworkers completely separate, while still dealing with the lingering effects of a demonic affair gone wrong. It's a tough and violent life, but it's all he's known since he first met the demons 50 years ago. He hasn't aged, but he's starting to grow up.
When the boss starts to show signs of dementia, Tobias finds himself in the middle of demonic succession struggles with enemies on all sides. Teaming with rival capos and Labal's soldiers, Tobias must hold the line. Because if the boss dies, another demon inherits the family and that's an automatic death sentence.
