Well, hi!  It's been a while.  As usual, I've been very busy.  Work is going pretty good for now.  My time as the treasurer of the Activities Committee is over, thank goodness.  It's fun to plan stuff, but I have work to do and don't need to be sitting in meetings or setting up tables for a luncheon.  Not that we did that all the time, but even just once in a while is a lot when there's work to do.

Chorus is not great.  I try not to be negative around the other members, but honestly I'm tired of singing in a mediocre chorus.  We didn't score very well at contest...again.  The majority of the members won't practice on their own, therefore they don't know the music and I'm really tired of it.  They also don't seem very interested in volunteering to help do the jobs that have to be done.  We're supposed to be planning a show for the fall, but no one wants to do the work involved.  The other show-chair and I are going to have to have a talk about it to make some decisions soon, and they may be hard decisions to make.  =o(

My new quartet is going pretty well, though.  We have a really good sound, much better than my other quartet, even.  We are sending in our registration this next week, but the name we've picked out is "That Other Quartet".  We can envision some fun "Who's on first" type of jokes to introduce us at shows and such (and now, That Other Quartet, which other quartet?, That Other Quartet, which one? - get it?).  Assuming the powers that be approve it, that will be our name.  It has to be approved by Sweet Adelines International, though to make sure there isn't a registered quartet with that name yet, but there shouldn't be a problem.  We've only had about 4 or 5 rehearsals so far, but I think we'll be good when we can get into a regular schedule.  We've been working around travel schedules so far, and three of us are going out of town again next weekend so we'll be without a rehearsal for 2 weeks, but we've almost got two songs learned.  We're working on "Bein' Green" (think Kermit the frog) and "Smile" (lyrics are "smile when your heart is aching, smile even though it's breaking").  The Green song is for our show, if it actually happens.  The show is called Shades of Harmony and is about colors.  Either the chorus or a quartet is singing a song about all seven colors of the rainbow, as well as some other fun songs.  =o)

Tomorrow my SIL graduates with her teaching degree.  She's very excited.  All of her family is in town for the graduation, and then there's apparently a pool party to celebrate.  I hope it's nice weather out.  And now that she's out of school, I hope she can find a teaching position.

Okay, I'm going to go check on Facebook, now.  =o)  Have a great weekend.
