Monday~ A regular comes in to pay for his gas. He plops a quarter on the counter and tell my coworker that he'll take the 9 cents out of that and put the other $30 on his card. She rings in the quarter as 25 cents and tells him his new total. He then tells her that he only wanted the 9 cents out of the quarter. "Everyone knows that I only put round numbers on my card." She apologizes and says she just hast to ring in differently. He tells her not to get snippy with him. He then continues to yell at us, telling us how he's shopped at this store for 20 years and her tone is unacceptable. We try to apologize and he says he'll never shop here again.
~ The upside. . . LSP gave us free lunch for all the times we give them change.
Tuesday~ Busy day. Customers started showing up at about 6:05. Fun fun fun. First shift goes well. That night. . . around 8 or so, I get a call. Our credit card machine isn't working. We can't run cards on it and we can't process checks on it. I go down and attempt to reboot it. Just goes back to the same menu. Grr. . . .nothing I can do about it at the moment.
~ Bright spot! I got to see the Goddess Sarah
Wednesday~ Instead of doing paperwork, I spend the majority of my day sitting on the phone having to download all of credit card stuff again. My mistake was calling the credit card company instead of the Telecheck people. Why was this such a mistake, you might ask. Well, after the credit card people helped me, my electronic checking function was suddenly gone. So, call the checking people and have to download all of the stuff again! Lost a couple of batch settlements in the process. . . le grrr!
Thursday~ "It must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursday's" Stock day. Customers coming in at the right intervals, that no matter how hard I tried it was next to impossible to get any of the built up invoices done. Thanks that Erin is super speedy at Stock Day and when she got done, she took over the till. Whatever thread of sanity I was clinging to snapped. (A random conversation with a bag of trail mix happened. Bad Idea Erin didn't help stop that one. But that's okay!)
Friday~ Surprise! This day didn't suck! Four days of paperwork done in roughly 2 1/2 hours. Payday and our shift balanced! Bad Idea Erin also showed me the most awesomely wrong song . . . which I will share with all of you.
And right now, I'm at work. . .
