I woke up to a fairly lazy Sunday morning.
Ate breakfast in bed, watching "CBS Sunday Morning". The wife rented "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"--which I found thouroughly enjoyable. After much prodding about the state of my health, went with the wife on a bike ride--but I only agreed to go with the promise of visiting the local coffeehouse in Irvington.
After getting set up, we spent the afternoon riding through most of Irvington. Now, Irvington is the "arty" district on the East Side of Indianapolis, full of antique shops, bookstores and old Victorian homes. It's also the home for Ellenberger Park--a large expanse of greenery and civility in what is the edge of encroaching urban blight. Families take their kids to the pool, there are music festivals there on the weekends, people are jogging and riding the bike trails--it's a perfect little slice of Americana.
I love going there.
After about an hour on the bikes, the wife and I stop in the "Lazy Daze Cafe'", enjoy a cup of hot chai and biscotti, then walk about Irvington looking at the antique shops. Then, we head home, tired but happy. The only bad thing about the ride is that my wife is on heart medication (Toprol) and it makes strenuous exercise problematic for her. She's currently resting in the living room now--recovering from her ride.
In the three hours we were out, I think we covered about five miles of streets and bike trails. I'm feeling pretty jazzed and energetic!
If I'm not too bushed from work, I think we'll do more of the same tomorrow....if the wife recovers, that is!
Cheers,
