(no subject)
Hello Livejournal! It has been literally five months since I've even glanced at this thing. Therefore, if you are someone who I mainly communicate with through livejournal, it means I have no idea what has happened over the past 5 months, and for that I apologize. I need to get better at picking up the phone or emailing people. Anyways... I've got some big news.
I got a teaching job!!! As you may remember, last spring I was forced out of my job with the Catholic Schools due to their massive downsizing and my lack of seniority. Well, just a few days ago I signed my contract with Geneva City Schools as a 5th grade special education teacher. I'll be co-teaching with a general ed. teacher in a room that contains students with and without disabilities. It should be a good time, and I'm mega excited to finally have a job in a public school. Geneva, for those of you not of the Rochester region, is about 40 minutes East down the thruway from where I currently am in Fairport. It's at the north end of Seneca Lake, the biggest Finger Lake.
I found an apartment in Canandaigua, which is about halfway between Geneva and friends living in the city of Rochester (close to the parents in Fairport, too). Move in day is a week from Monday. School starts with kids September 3, and I have new teacher orientation each day next week. My last day at Wegmans is August 31. Wow. There's lots to do and not much time to do it in.
So that's it, the big news anyways. Oh. I just looked at my previous entry from March. I'm still working out regularly, and my weight-loss total is up to 35 lbs. I feel rather fabulous. It's not something I ever thought I'd get in to, but now I can't imagine giving it up. I'll try to keep you updated on everything. Maybe I'll turn this journal into a chronicle of my first full year of teaching... Hm. We'll see. Call me or email me! I miss you people! Can't wait to see some of you at various wedding-related celebrations coming up.
