The word "mongrel" is a derogatory word. There are more positive words to describe people with diverse backgrounds. Even hybrid is a better term, though it sounds clinical and impersonal.
I don't get why you would use the term in such a manner. Are you baiting Glenn Beck and the rest of Fox News, or are you simply unaware that "mongrel" is a pejorative term? I know what you meant, but there is a better way to say it.
