So I'm back to having a ridiculous cold, which preventing me from going to A's second birthday party today, which is annoying. On the other hand, it ended up being a good thing: I was scheduled to teach a knitting class at 1pm, so would've had to leave the party (in the city) early to get there on time. Except that the students didn't show up. So, had I gone, I would've dragged my sick self to an outdoor party with a bunch of kids, left early...and been stood up. Better to just get stood up. At any rate, parking was slightly nightmarish, so I ended up parking at a meter. Which promptly failed after I had fed in coins. From experience, I have learned that I must photograph the failed meter, because otherwise the City of Oakland might decide that I was lying, despite two witness statements to back me up. And sock me with a huge ticket. The city. Not the witnesses.

Then I decided this was kind of an interesting picture in its own right, so there you are.

By the way, it takes skill to photograph a meter with a flashing "fail" sign in such a way that the "fail" is actually captured. I'm just sayin'.
