I am here at the Missions Conference at Biola University near Los Angeles and just got done listening to this amazing speaker. He grew up in Africa in a small town near Timbuctu(yes its a real place). It was directly by missions work that he heard the gospel and became a Christian. He then came to America and studied medicine. After he graduated and started practicing, God called Him to go back to do missionary work in Africa. He talked about how the only reason many people let him stay was because of his medical knowledge. Yet, so many Christians came out of Gods work through him. The speaker talked about how he stayed in Muslim areas and the muslims actually brought him their kids and told him to teach them from the Bible because of all the love they saw. In one village he went to and showed the Jesus film, the group of muslims were weeping as they saw Jesus nailed to the cross and cheering when he rose out of the grave three days later. Our speaker asked the muslims why they hadn't believed before and they said because no one told them about Jesus. That made my heart sink.
Dr. Solomen went on to discuss America and the path it is on: about how Christians are so lukewarm here. He had a point about prayer in schools that amazed me. He said that if we really wanted prayer in schools, we should prove it. Our churches are open often and we can prayer in our homes freely and openly and we don't! Why should we have prayer in school when we are not even taking advantage of the times we do have to pray. Is it really that important to us? Do our lives reflect that? We have so much freedom here and we don't even use it, people save Jesus for Sundays in church. They don't talk about Jesus in public for fear of ridicule when there are people sharing the gospel in countries where people can be executed for doing so. What is up with that!?! This is such a selfish America that we live in right now, everyone thinking of only themselves, trying to live from paycheck to paycheck or from Monday to Sunday. Where is God? America used to be one nation under God, "God shed His grace on the", our coins declare "In God we trust", our consititution, our declaration of independence, our very foundation for this country was God. Now we go around, keeping our discussion about Him amongst ourselves. Well, God can't be kept quiet and He won't be. There are other countries now rising up and sending out their own missionaries around the world. Fifty percent of the groups of people in the world HAVE NOT BEEN REACHED by the gospel!!!!!!!!! This is nuts, it really made me think twice. There are missions organizations all around our country that you can help. They are in need of all different kinds of workers. Everything from going to foriegn countries to making flyers to mobilizing to collecting donations to even praying. What are you doing to help the cause of Christ. He says that one day all nations will bow and praise Him. What are you doing to help?
