Jamie Campbell Bower is 'Mortal'

Jamie Campbell Bower, the 22-year-old British thesp best known for his roles in the "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" franchises, has graduated from supporting player to leading man, as Screen Gems has tapped him to star opposite Lily Collins in its adaptation of "The Mortal Instruments."
Cassandra Clare's bestselling young adult book series follows Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers she is the descendent of a demon-hunting clan called Shadowhunters. Bower will play Jace Wayland, a Shadowhunter with tattooed arms who is seeking to avenge his father's death.

Scott Stewart is directing the Jess Postigo-scripted pic, which is expected to launch a feature franchise, as there are six novels in Clare's series.

Unique Features' Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne optioned the series in 2009. The Unique duo will produce with Robert Kulzer, while Dylan Sellers will exec produce with Constantin's Martin Moszkowicz.

Bower, who broke out in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd," can currently be seen playing King Arthur on Starz's "Camelot." He'll reprise his respective roles of Gellert Grindelwald and Caius in the upcoming final installments in the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" franchises. Thesp will also soon be seen in William Monahan's "London Boulevard" and Roland Emmerich's "Anonymous."

Bower is repped by CAA and by Simon Beresford in the U.K.
