Everybody's Favourites Part 1

Jun 10, 2010 10:20

So I thought it might be fun to talk about our favourite things, some random, some HP, some film or music related, etc.

I think "top 3s" would work well for the most part. There are some things that you can't just list one for.

Let's get started, shall we?

Top 3 favourite films:
1. Moulin Rouge
2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. Donnie Darko

2. Billy Madison
3. American History X

Top 3 favourite HP books:
1. Deathly Hallows
2. Half Blood Prince
3. Prisoner of Azkaban

Top 3 favourite HP films:
1)Half-Blood Prince (Though I know DH will take this spot i just KNOW IT)
2)Sorcerers Stone (it was just so exciting seeing it the first time)
3)Order of the Phoenix
(in no particular order because it changes constantly)

Top 3 favourite HP characters:
1. Ron
2. Hermione
3. Arthur (old!Ron)

I'm adding another

3 Least favorite HP cahracters
1. ALL Malfoys (especially when they are paired with Potters/Weasleys)
2. Lavender (people give her and Ron's relationship a lot more depth than it had in the books and that is annoying)
3. Snape (He protected Harry but WAS ALSO A HUGE ASSHOLE TO HIM THE WHOLE TIME BECAUSE OF WHO IS DAD IS!)

Nice. I wish I had gotten the experience of seeing SS with everyone else, all the excitement after reading the books and starting to fall in love... but I didn't start really getting into it until GoF (the FILM) came out... sadly.

I totally agree about Lavender/Ron. I don't understand why people turn that into a relationship that had any substance at all. It was totally superficial and shallow and should be treated as such.

I have to say, even though Snape sucked a lot of the time, that's kind of why I love him... or part of the reason. He was a lot more complex than originally assumed, so that made him really intriguing and interesting.

However, nothing will ever make me feel that way about Draco. I love that he hesitated to identify Harry/Hermione/Ron during Malfoy Manor, but not because I thought he had turned good. He was a confused person, but he was still a really nasty coward who deserved to suffer. His parents can rot in Azkaban, thanks. haha

Snape is a very interesting character and his backstory broke my heart, but man he was just still such an asshole. Hehe

Ah, gotcha. We watched GoF, then the next morning had a 'first three' marathon at my bf's house. I was so excited watching them that time around, so I guess I did sort of get my moment too. hehe

And yeah, he's an asshole for sure... really no matter how you look at it.

I actually listened to each audiobook and then watched the movie so it was so cool reading it all before I saw any movies :) Ok reading aka listening. I had a job that had me in the car for hours each day and needed something to pass the time (i was getting tired of the same crap on the radio). I REALLY didn't want to listen to Potter books but it was all I could find on Limewire *ahem* so I did and and look at my obsession now!

The audiobooks are classic. I listen to them a lot on roadtrips. Do you have the Jim Dale versions?

Hahah yes and in the first 3 or 4 books he said the name "Hermione" weird, then after the movies came out you could tell he changed his pronunciation of it!

That happened for a few things he said! Trying to think of other examples...

Well, he says "Lestrange" like "Lestronge". heh

American History X is an amazing film, but I could only see it the one time, because that one "curbing" scene was so realistic I had nightmares about it.

Yes, and I'm not easy to scare, since I see movies for a living. That movie was sooooo controversial, but in the end it was fantastic (albeit incredibly disturbing!).
