Actually, I found, that taking the pill will not effect a fetus in the chance you do get pregnant while taking the pill.
Somewhere like five years ago, I had an experience that made me think that taking the pill caused me to misscary.
The scientific documentation that I found (not much sadly) shows that if you get pregnant at all on Low-Dose birth control, than the BC has already failed.
Any loss of the baby (yes I said baby) at any point after conception has nothing to do with the pill.
The pill has three functions (sorry for the graphic nature of the descriptions): 1. inhibiting ovulation (the primary mechanism), 2. thickening the cervical mucus, thereby making it more difficult for sperm to travel to the egg, and 3. thinning and shriveling the lining of the uterus to the point that it is unable or less able to facilitate the implantation of eggs.
If you get pregnant while on the pill, all of those mechanisms have failed. Now, complications can arrive if the uterine lining is thin, but based upon the article from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, if someone loses a baby within the first formative weeks of pregnancy, "are caused by problems with the chromosomes of the fetus".
As far as documented evidence states...there really isn't a correlation between the two.
Really? Huh... When I first started the pill, I was informed by my doctor that there was a risk of miscarry if I got pregnant on it. Maybe they effects of the pill (like the thinning of the uterus walls) make it more likely that the baby will be affected negatively in some way?

One of my friends, his wife got pregnant while she was on the pill... The kid seems fine. Except, of course, that my friend is his father. That poor, poor child... :)
