My Dream Occupation

My dream occupation? Well, I was very good at my last line of work -- starting wars. It's a noble profession with a glorious tradition, and it has its share of benefits. You get to travel to strange and exotic lands. You have the freedom of being self-employed. And your successes go down in history! But as much as I've enjoyed it, I really always thought I was destined for something greater. Ultimately, I think I should have been a king.

I'm perfectly suited to it really. I have exactly the right talents for the job. I have vast experience with court intrigue and politics from my years of starting wars. My intelligence is legendary! I'm a natural leader, and I'm not afraid to make tough decisions, even when everyone around me disagrees. I even know better than to start a land war in Asia. You'd be surprised at how common that mistake is.

It wouldn't even have to be a large country. I'd be happy with a fair-sized kingdom - as long as it had plenty of riches. I'd also want to have a sizable and fiercely loyal army. I've heard that some of the Asian kingdoms have suicide soldiers and I'd like to think I could inspire that level of dedication in my subjects. I'm sure I'd be a beloved and revered ruler. Some of these backwater countries would be thrilled just to have someone with my intelligence in charge. Just think of what I could do!

So yes, my dream job would be to be king. Too bad the Man in Black ruined it for some poor kingdom.

But no matter. Undoubtedly they don't even know the greatness they're missing. I leave them to their blissful ignorance.
