Welcome to The Mentalist Stills, an icon challenge community.
If you'd like to participate in icon challenges - whether you'd like to create them, or simply vote for them - please become a member and say hello.
This community isn't just about me setting challenges and others participating - I want it to be a community, a place where you feel you can share your ideas for challenges.

Do I have to sign up for challenges?
The structure of tm_stills is that anyone can participate at any time. There may be an occasion challenge where we require you to sign up but for most challenges all you need to do is submit your entries.
I don't think my icons are good enough to enter into a challenge.
Please don't worry, we accept icons from all levels of experience whether you've made one, ten or three hundred. You don't have to be experienced as long as you're willing to take part. In fact, I believe challenges like this are the best way to improve your icon skills.
I really like to make banners, can I still take part?
Whilst we really appreciate all types of fanart, this is an icon challenge community so we ask that all entries at icons. However, if you'd like to help out making winner banner then please apply here.
I don't make icons but I'd like to vote, is that okay?
That's more than okay, all that we ask is that you become a member of the community before submitting your votes.
I have an idea for a challenge, can I share it with you?
YES! Definitely, please do. We want this community to be about everyone taking part in fun challenges, I only have a limit set of ideas that I've picked up from a few other communities, so any suggestions are most welcome. You can submit them here.
I'd like to affiliate with tm_stills, how do I go about doing that?
We'd love to have more affiliates, all that we request is that your community is either a The Mentalist community, or a fanart community - this can be anything from being a 20in20 or stills comm to general fanart. Submit a request here.

What about the rules?
+ No animated icons are allowed to be submitted for challenges.
+ All icons must fit LJ requirements of 100x100px and no more than 40kb. You should submit your icons as either JPEG, PNG or GIF files.
+ All icons must be made for this challenge and by the person who submits them.
+ Icons must not be posted elsewhere until the challenge is over, all icons must remain anonymous. This includes the voting process, so please wait until winners have been announced before using your icons.
+ Do not take someone else's icons without their permission. Should you get their permission, don't forget to credit them.
+ Take risks - it's not a requirement, but we hope this challenge will enable you to take risks with your icons. Who knows, they might be the best risks you've ever taken.
+ Most importantly, have fun! We want this community to be fun and enjoyable for all who participate.
