Denial is a dangerous thing

All the showers in this house were stalls. Only the one attached to Magneto's contained a bath and she was no longer allowed that luxury. That source of comfort that allowed her a moment to wind down. She hated the showers. Hated the shadowy glass that did nothing for shielding a person's body. It was claustrophobic, being encased inside. Reminding her all too much of a cage. Of Genosha.

But Rogue wasn't going to say a word about it. She could deal with this. Simply get in, clean herself up and get out. It was a simple plan and if she could simply push herself to enter the stall it'd be going much smoother. Instead of laying against the wall, staring. Oh stop it! she screamed inwardly, pushing off the wall and draped her robe over the sink. Quickly making sure the door was actually locked.

She turned on the shower, testing the water. Smiling as it heated up for her, quicker than usual. "See, you can control it," she murmured, stepping inside. Trying to let the water soothe her. Scrubbing at her body. Wishing it was this easy to wash away everything else. She flinched as the water became ice cold. Looked up to see it frozen in place. "Damn it."

The ice broke, water rushing out. Burning her skin and Rogue fell, muffling her cries. Not wanting to be heard. Stop, stop, stop, she willed, hands clenching into fists, eyes shut. The water ceased and Rogue shivered, watching her skin heal. Startled by the sound of thunder above her. Nearly shrieking when she saw the storm cloud above her. Threatening to erupt. She leaped out of the shower, wrapping her towel around her body and closed the stall door. Trapping the storm inside.

She slid down against the wall, waiting for it to pass. Pleased it didn't last too long and pushed herself up. She stood in front of the mirror, foggy now because of the steam and frowned at the words etched in it. "Help me," she muttered, wiping them away. Annoyed. "I don't need help. I'm fine. Perfectly fine."
