TM Prompt #350: What should you just say no to?

Aug 29, 2010 23:21

A pact signed in blood.

A man's word is his bond, but in these modern times promises are so easily broken, even those written in pen and ink. You can accept an agreement with a check mark in a box, a click of the mouse. Scan the words without reading. I accept.

"Ink doesn't mean anything to me. Now sign."

(There are reminders in the strangest places.)

A deal with the Devil. This is an expression I have found is tossed around quite easily in America, which I find amusing. America is the home of many devils, and of God as well. I see this in news on a daily basis. There are Holy Wars all over the country. Dead babies and homosexuals and science in schools. It makes me laugh. America breeds soft people, if they must search so to find their demons. My homeland is frozen and breeds people with cold hearts, but thicker skins.

I do not consider myself a Christian. I am vedma and my ways are surely condemned by clergy. But I know well that there are bargains struck at the thirteenth hour, at crossroads all over the world. You have to know what to look for. Black Rolls Royces are a bit of a giveaway, as are names that seem almost too ridiculous to believe.

"Mephistopheles is such a mouthful in Manhattan."

Read the fine print.
