Finally braving the outside world, the first place Johnny went was to get a drink. Entering Lucid was almost comforting and he was glad that the place hadn't changed all that much. He sat at the familiar bar, ordered a glass of merlot, and braved a look around the crowded room.
No familiar faces yet, maybe that was a good thing right now.

OOC: Good eye! He'll appreciate it, I think :)

"I'm James," he said, holding out a hand. Spare the man the shock of godliness...it was always the best on first meetings.

"You don't look so old to me. Do you feel old?"
Hermes ordered a glass of wine, a Marlot to match Johnny's. No sense in showing him up with a older, more expensive wine...

He didn't want to get into anything personal right now, wasn't willing to open up just yet. He'd just met James, who seemed nice enough, plus they hadn't had anywhere near enough to drink yet.

"What do you do? For a job, and all. It has an effect on things and all. Me, I'm a business man, spend all day in an office...gets to you eventually. Have to go out, every once in a while, and do something wild and crazy for fun..."

Of course you are, it's who you are Depp! That's the one thing you are sure of right now!
"I'm an actor, and a dad. I just separated from my girlfriend a year ago, and we're having some custody issues with the kids. She doesn't want me to see them as much, only once a month now."

"I know what you mean. My..." Oh dear, how to explain this one? "Well, My wife...she, heh. This is going to sound really odd. But we used to have a thing, and it was a good thing...we worked well together, as a couple, you know? Well, she got pregnant and kicked me to the curb for years...never told me why. Then she popped up again, dating a son of mine, that I didn't know was mine either mutual friend of ours." He shook his head, "I guess the sum of it is, we did something rather stupid. She was upset that her current boyfriend...thing, whatever you want to call him, knocked up my daught this other woman. So I took her out for drinks, in Vegas. Bad move...woke up married, found out she'd had my child years ago ( ... )

"That's quite a bit more complicated than my mess. I'm glad to see you came out of it seemingly in one piece." He finished of his wine, setting the glass down.
"You know, it's kinda funny. I was born in Kentucky and grew up a little there, and your story reminds me of all the stereotypes of that area. All the family inbreeding, and marrying your cousin and all that. Pretty sill huh?"
Reply
"Sort of in one piece, I suppose." Hermes said, taking a long drink. "And...yeah...I suppose it is silly, and fucked up and all that. My family though...well, we're Greek." As if that just explains it all. "Kentucky doesn't have anything on Greeks."
Reply
"No, I suppose not. I'm afraid I don't know too much about the Greeks though, other than a little bit of that mythology stuff. There's a Disney movie that my daughter likes about Hercules. Took a whole month to convince her that I couldn't give her a peagasus." He smiled, remembering that trial with his 6 year old.
Reply
"Yeah well...You wouldn't have wanted him anyway, tempermental one, Peagasus." Pause. Blink. Smirk. "Disney gave everyone the baby version of that movie." Not to mention the slight chip on his shoulder about being BLUE...and FAT...and LIT--- Ok, so he was the little one in the family. But STILL...
Damn Loki for making him watch that movie.
"Greeks...well, In our anceint history, young boys would learn to become men from older mentors...in all ways. Sometimes those mentors were family...and well, Our pantheon...sibings marrying siblings and all."

"I'm also guessing you're not a fan of the Disney sweetening of the story. More of an accurate history buff huh? Understandable, especially if it's about your own background." He ordered another merlot, glancing at the other man's glass. "Can I buy you another?"
Reply
"Oh, I'm not a fan of movie in general, nothing against Disney and all. But, I do find it hard to believe the gods were all sorts of unnatural colors."
He smiled a bit more relaxed like, and shrugged, "But history is more my flavor. There is something more real to telling a true story, more so than someone's babied up love story...."
And Ares smiling? Should terrify anyone.

"Sometimes it's nice to see a little something away from reality though. It can be the break people need."
