Angel's phone call had come near the end of her lunch hour with Ynez, so Darla, after taking leave of Ynez, went straight home. A few phone calls later she had one of the Immortal's limousines with glasses dark enough for mid-day vampire transportation at her service. Darla would have angrily refuted any accusations about being a mother hen, but facts were facts. One couldn't leave Connor in this situation, and as for Kara, each and every trip she had made in recent months, from California to the last New York expedition, had ended in an utter disaster and left her worse off.
Darla decided to bring along the chains she had already given Angel as a Christmas present. Just in case.
Angel insisted on driving, of course, and they ended up in a typical late Friday afternoon traffic jam as soon as they were anywhere near New York. This gave Darla the opportunity to try and reach Kara or Connor on their cell phones, with no success. By the time they had made it to the Osborn penthouse, she was livid, but centuries of playing game did pay off in the self discipline department. Connor wasn't there, either. The pilot she was familiar with through the expedition to Greece, Phillip Santini, was, talking to the other staff members. After half an hour alone with her in the kitchen, he gave her the name and location of the clinic and the password one needed to visit Harry Osborn.
Given that Kara had mentioned visiting Harry and that Goblin pursuits aside, this was an obvious action for Connor to take, the place was their next best guess to find either child. By the time they arrived at Silver Hills, it was dark. They decided to split up. Angel would check out the surrounding area for any signs of Kara or Connor and, if finding either, use if necessary force to ground them until they could talk some sense into them and provide the appropriate mixture of hugs and chains.
As for Darla, she would visit the cause of much troubles himself. Mostly to get a first hand account on recent events and ask about her children's whereabouts. But there might have been a tiny part in her that was concerned for young Mr. Osborn. As opposed to Angel, she had started out by liking him. Self-destructive boys were something of a weakness of hers.
Besides, she still thought he'd make a splendid vampire.
