If you could find out one single fact about every person you met, what fact would you want to know, and why?
Their taste. And aren't you all just stunned by surprise. Seriously, though, I haven't met two humans who had exactly the same taste, and I'm not just talking about blood here. Skin, sweat, smell, all of which combines to taste... they're different for everyone. Now human senses work somewhat different, but not completely, and at any rate, I can still remember. The delicious, the bland, and the ghastly; knowing everyone's taste in advance would have spared me the disappointment of finding a certain silent movie actor exceedingly dull, for example. He would have lived on to grow old and decrepit, or maybe the arrival of sound would have killed him anyway.

Whereas if I had known in advance what Joyce Summers tasted like, I might have not wasted the small taste I got on setting up Angel because of a humiliating attack of jealousy. She had a deceptive Californian housewife look, but there was spice there. If I hadn't been staked within the night, I'd probably have come back for more.
*end of lock*
These days, curiosity about taste is mostly academic, of course, but not completely. I've never been interested in collecting everyone's life stories, and opinions about myself are only relevant if I'm interested in the person in question already. Taste, though? Doesn't require hours of attention, let alone years. Sweet, salty, bitter or everything in between: it's its own reward.
