Breaking the 4th wall: a Civil War Retrospective

Feb 24, 2007 00:23

Remember Civil War? The massive multi-comic crossover that created passionate sentiments (for instance, "Why the hell is this book so late????") among fans of all of the books that didn't ignore it completely?

In case you missed it -- or if you're feeling a little nostalgia for the Wednesday before last, and can't wait until next Wednesday, when Marvel puts out their self-congratulatory Best Of Special Book, let me share with you, a few highlights:

The Only Civil War Checklist You Will Ever Need -- by Nathan Dayspring Askani'son Summers

First, my girlfriend did this incredibly hot thing:

Then, my dad and his high school buddies drove across the country in a Stealth Hummer.

I'm pretty sure this is the only time they had to call Captain America and ask for directions.

After that, the most important development occurred when Deadpool and I had words.

Inevitably, this led to Deadpool's being drugged and restrained with duct tape.

Obviously, it was the right thing to do, or Captain America wouldn't have agreed.

To sum up the rest of the war in a few panels, Mr. Fantastic waxed nostalgic about McCarthyism:

And, last but not least, Iron Man was a douchebag.

I think that sums the whole thing up pretty nicely. There is no truth to the rumor that I'm making this highlight-reel post in an attempt to ignore the fact that I have failed to be in my own book for two months straight.

Who wants to be in a book with Deadpool, anyway?
