Saying that Xigbar was bored as well, was like saying that the atmosphere 100 yards out past the beach shore was a bit on the damp side.
The new born twins were curled up in their shared crib, fast asleep with their new guardian on the rug beside their bed. Said guardian, the ever faithful Braig, was sleeping as well, having dozed off mid-chew of a soft-centered bone. The orange kitten was asleep as well, sharing a nap with the lady of the house. The gray cat lay out on the porch in the sunlight, having finished off a can of tuna as a reward for being good at the vet.
This left Xigbar and little Hunter wide awake and pretty much by themselves. Neither of them could be quiet when the other was around, it seemed, so they plotted together to take their loudness elsewhere.
And where else better to get loud than the uncles' house?
With that thought in mind, they made their way there, and the passing of just a few minutes had Xigbar walking through the front door of their second home, holding a giggling Hunter under one arm like an old sack of potatoes.
"Here, catch!" he smirked, seeing the mullet-headed man on the couch and tossing the little boy on top.
Those two little words took a few moments to register in Demyx's brain as he blinked around in confusion. "What the...?" He barely had time to thrust his laptop onto the couch cushion beside him before he found himself with a lap full of six-year-old. He laughed as he tickled the short blonde thing in his lap before letting him up to run play with the assortment of animals that had appeared at the sound of someone to give them attention.
The mulleted college senior grinned as he turned his attention to Xigbar, crossing his arms over his chest as he arched an eyebrow. "Damn, I knew I should have set the alarm after Riku left! But I never knew that leaving the door unlocked would cause one-eyed crazies to enter my house!"
"Gee Xig, did you piss Larxene off already? You know, just because she's had the babies doesn't mean that she's not still hormonal as hell~"
Xigbar laughed softly and plopped himself down on the couch after moving one of the many cats from the cushion.
"You realize that I know your alarm number, right?" He laughed. "And that I have a key to your house? And that I could just sneak in the window? Besides, you like this crazy! And this crazy comes attached to a dash of cute and a whole fuck ton of sexy!"
Another laugh and he turned his head to put the sight of his boy and the canines within his relatively small field of vision.
"Hey, I haven't pissed her off in a long time! And she's easy to piss off! Any anger directed at you was induced by you!" He smirked a bit and lounged, making himself comfortable.
"Why, is she trying to devour you again? Just roll over and play dead. Tossing a small child in the other direction as a sacrifice helps, too."

"Now why am I surprised that you know all of that? Hell, even I forget what the code is sometimes and Riku let me pick it so that I wouldn't forget!" He grinned as he moved his laptop to the coffee table, turning his attention to Xigbar.
"Nah, I haven't pissed Larxene off in a while! At least not that I know of! She keeps trying to use me as some sort of project for her classes I think. All she wants to do is try to shrink my head lately!" He laughed as he got to his feet, lookihg down at Xigbar with a grin.
"You hungry or thirsty or anything? That goes for both of you~" he called out to Hunter who was currently amusing himself with Roxy and Balto.
He shrugged and smirked. "I guess I just have a good memory or something like that. Larxene's always looking for new fodder to feed to her analytical mind of doom. And she's good at it. And I have to put up with it for the rest of forever!" He smirked and shook his head at the offer of drinks.
"We're the ones that invaded, Demyx, you don't have to play nice little hostess for invaders!" He gave the other another smirk and stood up. "But, I will make use of your toilet! Too much juice this morning. Just call me the Whiz Kid."
That said, he practiced the fine and skilled art of stepping over kids and pets without landing on one, and headed down the hall.
Demyx waved Xigbar down the hallway as he headed toward the kitchen. "As much as you've been here, you know where the bathroom is!" he called after him as a couple kittens followed him into the other room.
"Hmm, no parents around huh Hunter~?" He grinned as he passed the young blonde a couple of cookies and one of the juice boxes that he and Riku kept around for situations such as this.
"Fine, fine. Geeze it's not like we never feed you!" He rolled his eyes as he lifted the littlest kitten onto the kitchen counter, setting out the special kitten food for him before putting a different kind of food in the bowl that was sitting on the floor for Molly. The food for the dogs quickly followed as the two blondes whatched the puppy go flying face first into the food bowl, small bits of kibble flying everywhere at his enthuasim.
He entered the bathroom, laughing lightly at the fact that his announcements of bodily functions were no longer considered odd or out of place, or really bothered anyone anymore. Aaah, family.
His business was finished in short order, and when he was done washing his hands, he turned away from the sink... and caught himself on the towel rack. He made a loud curse and grabbed for his arm. He glowered at the offending rack and then cursed himself for not looking before turning into his blind spot. He was used to his house with its big empty spaces, apparently.
He looked down at his hand, and sighed. It was a small amount of blood, nothing to be too concerned with, but Hunter and his mother would freak out if they saw blood on the man, so he moved back to the sink to raid the medicine cabinet for bandaids.
He opened the cabinet door, and several bottles fell from the shelf into the sink. He ignored them for the time being as he dug and dug and dug, making more bottles fall to join their comrades. Finally his query was in sight, and by the end of the minute he was tidied up and bandaged expertly. Uncle and Daddy duty was just as good as EMT training when it came to bandaids.
That done, he turned his attention to setting the bottles- "Gee, that's a lot of medicine, isn't it?"- back in their place. Of course, he came from a professional stand point on this sort of thing, so he tried his best not to invade Riku's and Demyx's privacy. However, such a profession made his eye and mind catch and store even the more confusing prescriptions.
And he'd heard some of these before... Efavirenz, Zidovudine, and Lamivudine are the ones that stood out the most... and his medical-dictionary-of-a-mind scoured through years and pages and tomes of information. As he slowly closed the cabinet again, several bits of knowledge came to the front of his mind, and all he could do was lean against the mirror and sink.
Demyx's name was on the bottles, he knew, and he didn't know how to act. He didn't know how to go out there. He wasn't as good as some of his other friends at keeping his emotions to himself... and this was bad.
[Xig needs a hug!]h2o_dancerNovember 17 2009, 04:29:53 UTC
Laughter filled the kitchen as Demyx watched Hunter rolling around on the floor with the puppy, the little blonde giggling happily as Balto made it his sole purpose to lick every inch of exposed skin he could find.
The photography major got to his feet, a soft sigh leaving his lips at the sound of the alarm on his phone alerting him to what time it was. "Here we go again..." he muttered softly as he turned the alarm off, glancing down the hallway toward the bathroom, making a slight face when he noticed that the door was still closed. Hmm, Xigbar had been in there for an awfully long time.
He made sure that Hunter was playing happily before making his way down the hall, knocking lightly on the door to alert the one-eyed man of his presence. "Xigbar? You okay in there...?"
[Aw, he'll be fine. :D]ixarms_reloadxiNovember 17 2009, 04:49:01 UTC
He wasn't quite sure how long he'd been sitting on the tub, face in his hands as he shook slightly.
This is what everyone's been upset about. This is what Demyx has been hiding. This is what Riku's been bottling up with everything else that's going to give him more tumors and ulcers than he can deal with. This is what Larxene's been avoiding the issue of Demyx about...
How many people knew? How many didn't know? How many were unknowingly exposed to such a deadly virus? He let out a soft groan, one of which he broke off half way through when he heard the knock at the door.
Damn...
He wiped his eye. He hadn't been crying full out, it seemed, but his throat was tight, his hands were shaking, and his jaw was set, but still weak.
"I'm fine," he called, checking his appearance in the mirror a moment before opening the door.
"Sorry about that," he smirked, hoping his emotions weren't showing through. He let the shorter man pass, and once the door was shut, he leaned against the wall beside it.
"... hey... Demyx..."
He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. It took several moments before he could form any sort of language.
"A bathroom with a shower really isn't the best place to keep your Combivir. Too much heat and moisture can ruin the prescription and turn it useless."
Without another word, he silently and quickly made his way down the hall to the kitchen. Riku kept his cigarettes in one of the cupboards, right?
[he still needs hugs! :P]h2o_dancerNovember 17 2009, 05:18:05 UTC
Demyx grinned at Xigbar when he opened the bathroom door, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked up at him. "About time! Was beginning to think that you'd fallen in and drowned~" He teased as he ducked under the older ones arm and made his way into the bathroom, too intent on taking his medicine on time to focus on the others face.
He pulled his phone out of his pocket, scrolling through the scheduler until he found the date and time, checking to see which of his many medications he was supposed to be taking at right that moment. His phone was his lifesaver. Without it, he would never be able to remember which drug he was supposed to take and when and then he'd be even more screwed than he already was. He had just placed his needed pills into the palm of his hand when Xigbar's voice floated through the closed door, his heart skipping a beat at the sound of his words.
He knew. Xigbar knew... Demyx found himself slumped against the bathroom door, hesitating for a moment before swallowing the pills as he put the bottle of water to his lips. How was he going to face him? Xigbar was the only one that knew outside of Riku and Larxene and Demyx was terrified of his reaction. The blonde took a few deep, steadying breaths before opening the bathroom door and heading downstairs.
When he found Xigbar, he could only stare at him in shock, his mouth opening and closing a few times, barely able to speak. "Y-you..." he closed his eyes for a moment, staring at the floor when he finally opened them. "You know...?"
[Hugs of healing! Let them be shared!]ixarms_reloadxiNovember 17 2009, 05:55:26 UTC
In all honesty, Xigbar shouldn't be smoking. He shouldn't even be near the smoking section of a restaurant. His heart was giving him too much trouble as it was, it didn't need clouded lungs making breathing worse. And yet, he'd already gone through more than enough of the death sticks that he felt obligated to leave an IOU in Riku's hiding place.
The oxygen tank would be blowing full force tonight...
But that didn't matter. Not to him, not right now. He stared ahead at nothing. Hunter was splashing around in the water of the pool, having disrobed to nothing and let himself float with the resident wolf in the chilly water. Xigbar stared at it, but wasn't completely aware and watching. Just staring.
His eye closed at the sound of Demyx's voice. He didn't move, and was just barely able to form any thought at all. He didn't want to sound angry, because he wasn't. He didn't want to sound worried, because that might bother Demyx. He didn't want to sound like he didn't care, because he did. He was bad with words, horrible, really, and everyone knew it.
Rather than say anything and fuck up any brotherhood between the two, he kept his mouth shut for almost entirely too long.
He didn't know what to say, but felt that he should say something. He didn't know what to say, other than a gentle, quiet: "You ... should get a medical bracelet."
[Share the looove!]h2o_dancerNovember 18 2009, 00:51:48 UTC
The silence was killing him.
Demyx wasn't sure what he had been expecting when he walked outside to the pool, but completely silence certainly hadn't been up there on his list. Every person that knew of his diagnosis had had a different reaction: the doctor had apologized, Riku, well, Riku had been silent in a different way than XIgbar, and Larxene had actually made him feel a little better about the whole thing. But Xigbar being this quiet? That scared him.
Demyx lowered himself to the edge of the pool, dunking his bare feet into the cool water, watching Hunter silently until Xigbar finally spoke to him. At the older man's suggestion, he shook his head slightly before looking up at him. "No... everyone who saw it would know and..."
"No one knows... well, Riku knows of course, and Larxene cause I needed someone to talk to and you. That's it... and I'd like to keep it that way..."
[LOVE LOVE LOVE! :D]ixarms_reloadxiNovember 18 2009, 01:35:57 UTC
Xigbar turned his head towards Demyx, not really looking at him, but at least able to see him out of the corner of his eye. He divided his vision between the mullet and the kid.
"Demyx, some people will have to know. To protect themselves and you. And it's not like anyone would know. If they asked about the bracelet, just say you're allergic to common medications, or you're diabetic. I got one for Larxene, no one ever asks about it. It can be written in code, too, so that no one with a medical knowledge less than that of a highly trained EMT would know what it is."
He sighed, a small puff of smoke escaping on his exhale, and laid his head against the wall. He sounded angry and accusatory. He wasn't truly feeling either, but... he was bad with words.
"... sorry. Didn't mean to say it like that."
He let another small moment of silence pass before he held an arm out for a hug. "I'm sorry, Demyx..." I'm sorry you're sick
[All they need is love?]h2o_dancerNovember 18 2009, 01:57:17 UTC
A hurt look crossed Demyx's face at Xigbar's accusatory words. He didn't even bother to hide it as he stared at his hands, blinking slightly. His hands were shaking. Huh, that was new. A side effect of the medication maybe? Or maybe the sheer number of emotions that were running though him at right that very moment.
"No one needs to know. I don't plan on bleeding on anyone and I'm not having sex with anyone but Riku and he knows so..." the blonde trailed off as he pulled his feet out of the water, wrappig his arms around his knees as he sighed softly. His stomach was hurting again, but that's something he wasn't going to show the person that was standing a few feet away from him.
His eyes drifted over to Xigbar, voice thick with unshed tears as he looked at the offered arm. "You sure you want to touch me...?"
[IT MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND!]ixarms_reloadxiNovember 18 2009, 02:20:00 UTC
One would think he would have learned by now to keep his mouth shut. Apparently not, though. Even though the damned thing often got him into more trouble than he could afford, he still never hesitated to share a thought. He'd often heard the joke that his "Shut the hell up" filter was on the fritz, or at least coin operated, and it seemed truer than most comments about him.
He hesitated with his words, arms still out towards the other. When no motion was made to hand over the requested hug, Xigbar moved to the blonde, sitting beside him and pulling him close.
Although the sight of guys hugging wasn't anything new to little Hunter, Xigbar had the feeling that his tears were something strange that would raise fear. He tried to keep them down, but it was a bit difficult. Luckily the young boy seemed more interested in riding the dogs like dolphins. That was okay, too.
[SHORT FAIL IS LOVE?]h2o_dancerNovember 18 2009, 02:43:17 UTC
At the feel of Xigbar's arms around him, the blonde froze for a moment, his heart racing as he tried to figure out what was going on. When he realized it was just a hug, he leaned against his older friend, his head resting on his shoulder. Silent tears ran down his face as he closed his eyes, trying to will the tears away.
The blonde hastily wiped his eyes, sniffling softly. "I'm done with crying... I've done entirely too much of it lately. But..." he sighed softly as he ran his fingers through his hair, making a face when his stomach lurched slightly. No. He wasn't going to throw up yet again. He was tired of it all and just wanted the tears and all of the stupid side effects to stop.
