A day @ the San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo, one of the must go place in the world due to it being renowned as the World's best zoo. =)

Being near and having great neighbours whom have free entry passes, we made our way to the zoo last weekend. Was there pretty late and started our journey only after lunch (read: late breakfast). Also had 2 shows (zoo animal shows) to rush to...

We are happy to start off the day, with nice weather despite being winter...in fact, we dont really feel the winter here in San Diego. =p Coolest temperature was perhaps near 10 degree celcius but that is at night. Daytime during the soon to be over winter season was about 16 and above degree celcius.

I saw this bird trying to catch something...have not been shooting for a while and hence, my hands were really shaky for such shots. This bird seems to have flown in as it was not tagged.

Saw this duck Face Off. =p

Wonder what she is video-"taping" (nowadays tapes are not common..this is a flash based camcorder.)

This...

A red river hog taking a piss....actually she was capturing a polar bear and not this. =p

Geraldine trying to read the map with our neighbours who sat besides her.

After that, we ventured to look at Koalas...native of australia and I got to learn from Geraldine that they only eat eucalyptus and sleeps 16 hours or more a day, waking up only to eat...what a life......

Only managed to catch one of them (too far away) in an "awake" mode...

Went to a show and managed to capture some stuff (non-show related) that I like

After the two shows, we went for a drink and she got the fancy straw of San Diego =p Our kind neighbours gave us their old straw of a Panda to go with this Monkey one we bought.

And we left for home after that.

A general feel is that our Singapore Mandai zoo fares no lousier then this world famous one. Compound wise, animal variety wise, we are on par. The only thing is that it is very comfortable here to walk around without being drenched in sweat....the humidity back home...=) Will have to go look at their wild animal park next...that would be hopefully an eye opener!

Take care folks.
