probably others have noticed this, but in case not. . .

Seriously, though, those two had perfect chemistry together, coupled with a wonderful new frisson, as a result of their respective real-life ages, that a) the original series, as good as it was, never offered, and that b) is still relatively rare in romantic fiction.
In old-school Who, even the youngest of the Doctors was still played by an actor who was older than his companions, and with fresh-faced young '70s feminist firebrand Sarah Jane Smith, this was certainly no exception, since her Doctors were the affectionately paternal Jon Pertwee and the worldly bohemian Tom Baker. As such, the in-story age gap between the hundreds-of-years-old Time Lord and his twentysomething Girl Friday was only underscored by these real-life age differences.
By contrast, David Tennant is in his mid-30s, while modern-day Elisabeth Sladen is - in spite of her astonishingly youthful appearance - nearly 60, so even though the Doctor is still the better part of a millennium older than Sarah Jane, it's almost like he's Peter Pan and she's Wendy, and because she's aged and he ... well, hasn't, in that sense, she's kind of caught up to him, and is meeting him as a true equal for the first time - ironically enough, precisely because she seems old enough to be his mother, rather than in spite of it.
Bear in mind, I'm a bit biased, on account of considering Lis Sladen to be the dictionary definition of a "MILF," but especially after three seasons of NuWho hooking the Doctor up with pretty girls in their early 20s (not that I mind those, especially as a Freema Agyeman fan), I'd quite welcome him having teh hawt secksual tenshun with an attractive older woman for a change ...
Oh, God. Now I'm imagining Ten with Donna as his "Sugar Mommy."

Um, I'll shut up now !

Not after seeing that latest photo of her as his full-time companion. Right now, I'd imagine that even a lot of the boys who found Donna annoying in "The Runaway Bride" are looking at Catherine Tate and thinking, "Yum. I'll have some fries with that shake." ;)
For me, I guess a lot of it just comes down to, you know, we see so many younger girl/older guy romances, especially in sci-fi, that I feel like the hawt older women should enjoy the same opportunities. More cougars in sci-fi, says I!

Ah well, Freema's *definitely* gorgeous...

I dunno. Maybe you have to be a straight guy with a redhead MILF fetish. ;)

In "The Runaway Bride," Donna spent most of her time scowling or shouting, causing some severe lines to show up on her face.
In the promo photo with David Tennant, Catherine Tate's smile is much more gentle and welcoming, especially in contrast to his slightly stern and sad expression (I suspect as a result of the recent passing of his mother, poor guy).
In her first appearance, Donna came across as a Bridezilla, but in the latest photo, if you hadn't seen her previous appearance, you might think she was there to cheer up the somewhat serious-looking Time Lord by her side (which may well be how her story plays out, considering where the end of Season 3 left him ...).

Hmm, OK, you make a good point, she does look much better when she smiles (most people do, in fact), but I still don't see the hawtness myself...
By the way, when is the next part of your Ten/Martha/Donna fic going to be out ? (She asks in a non-nagging way)

I do need to come up with the next Martha/Donna/Ten chapter, don't I? It needs to include the Sonic Screwdriver, too ...

Oh yes, Sonic Screwdriver is a must... ;D
