I realize that I never really finish what I start. I'm pretty sure that the last time I wrote in this I said something about using it to give people updates on what's going on in my life over here... I def haven't.
Okay, bare bones overview:
-My Rotary club hates me. Fo surrus. I got the bad luck to be stuck with another newie who could already speak french when he got here, and this makes them think that "I'm not motivated to learn the language" Ummm... nevermind the fact that I've significantly progressed in my understanding (I understand pretty much everything now) and I'm slowly getting over my shyness to speak. Ignore that I have a three hour french course twice a week that I go to on my own choice. Nevermind the fact that I'm making Belge friends, having actual conversations with my host mum, and studying all the time. Yeah nevermind that. They also think I'm neglecting my rotary responsibility because I missed Thursday's meeting. I'm sorry, but I didn't realize it was an outrageous assumption to think that they were going to pick me up like they did every other time except when my host parents had to come. If it wasn't that they were in charge of my future here I would just say fuck em and forget about it. My host mum likes me, about half my teachers at school like me (the other half don't really pay any attention), and I've got my exchange friends. But they are in charge of my future here... *sigh*
-Faith is living here with me. I have mixed feelings about it, but in general I'm enjoying it. We're friends and it's fun. But sometimes I feel like she's trying to steal my family from me, which is completely preposterous, and I realize that. But I think that in a bit we'll get into the routine. I'll stop being ridiculous, and she'll realize that I'm not her sister from back home and it'll be even better than it is now (which is quite good).
-This weekend: Was quite fun. Last night went to Bruxelles and chilled with Malcolm, Scott, John and Harrison. I also met a really cool (and slightly cute) Belge guy in the station while I was stuck there for two hours waiting for everyone else. He was fun, spoke english quite well (was well as three other languages), we made fun of people and when Scott and the belge guy's friend got there the four of us chilled for a while. He invited Scott and I to go to some huge rock festival with him. Good times. Got his email and he works in Namur on Saturdays, so hopefully I'll see a bit more of him. Too bad he's 23 and not interested in me. Haha.
His friend showed up, they went to a party of a friend who just got a new appartment, Malcolm showed up and the three of us went to the Celtica, later met up with John and Harrison and wandered around Brux for a while. Went to a shisha bar, which was quite fun. Then headed to Harrison's (cause I was supposed to stay with Faith at her date to some ball's house but they weren't going to be done til like 4 am and everyone was leaving) and hung out and had "guy talk" until late. It was quite fun. Got up at like 9 this morning (after like 3 hours of sleep on the ground) walked to the metro and met up with Faith. Came home, went to a concert of my host sister's husband. Came home.
- School: it's pretty good. I like my class quite a bit, and some of my classes aren't to bad. Exams are coming up... that should be interesting. Ugh.
-Home: Is quite nice. My host family is pretty much amazing. I really don't want to leave.
Umm well I think that's about it. I'll probably think of something else later, but eh. I may or may not update again soon.
Yours,
Katy
