Mehhhhh.

I officially lost my job yesterday. They had originally told us that we'd finish on the 11th, then last week guessed the finish date to be Wednesday or Thursday. At the end of the day on Tuesday, they "surprised" us by telling us that our services were no longer needed.

I've spent today tracking down every job lead I could find. Many, many thanks to all of you who commented with useful ideas, contacts, or sympathy.

Since yesterday, I've....
- Left a message on an organizer's voicemail about the part-time catering gig mentioned in my last post. Need to follow up tomorrow.

- Contacted bluepony's recruiter via email and voicemail. Haven't heard back yet, but really crossing my fingers on this one.

- Looked up a former employer of c_maxx for a possible lead. They're located two hours away from me. D'oh.

- Scheduled an interview for tomorrow with another temp agency. Spent two hours filling out their online application stuff only to have them call me and tell me that my administrative experience wasn't recent enough and to not bother coming in to the interview. D'oh!

- Polished up one of my resume variations, had Brandon print it out at work, and went to a local plaza where I'd seen signs for educational workshops with the intent of filling out an application. Found out that the organization no longer existed. D'OH!!!

- Emailed come_along_fool about possible job info that his friends might have.

- Called and requested a "Fingerprint Clearance Card" application. This is necessary for many jobs involving confidential information or work with children. It's also part of the emergency teaching certificate application.

- Applied to a couple of jobs, including a second-grade teaching job at a charter school geared toward the arts. Don't know if they'll even bother to contact me, but it's worth a shot.

Am I forgetting anything?

Tomorrow, I'm applying to even more jobs and a few recruiting agencies. I also have two leads on tutoring positions that I need to investigate. Additionally, I might take a trip down to the local school district office to see what they have available and to get their thoughts on my eligibility to teach. Cold-calling is next, once I figure out where it is that I could call. I've already looked into the cool theater and museum jobs this side of town - they're all either unpaid or through the local government, and the government isn't hiring. Fie.

C'mon job mojo!

job, work, panic
