All of my friends've got flowers in their eyes, but I've got none this season

Tonight while working on homework, I set my iPod to "shuffle all" and soon after, a song played that reminded me of last year's Winter/Spring transition. I got really excited, because I haven't heard the song in a long time.  This particular song, "High Life" by Counting Crows, drew forth some very vivid memories of last year from when I first started listening to the cd the song's on, This Desert Life.

While the song played, I could picture myself getting ready for school in the morning. I could perfectly smell both of the perfumes I used at the time (Ralph, by Ralph Lauren and Black Raspberry Vanilla from Bath and Body Works).  I could see myself in two particular shirts I loved (they were new).  And I could taste the sandwich I made myself for breakfast each morning: two Eggo wheat waffles spread with peanut butter with sliced apples in between. All the while, I would listen to This Desert Life.

That cd also reminds me of driving to and from the Pittsburgh airport, because we flew to both Seattle and New York in the early and late Winter respectively, and in the car, I'd always play that cd.

I love the sense of nostalgia.

I don't wanna go home alone,
I wanna come on home to you.
Waiting here for you,
Wanting to tell you
How I line my sky with all the silver I can use,
Just the way you do.
I thought if I told you,
You might want to stay for just another day... or two.
