The other man's grass is always greener

Something was off about the first night back. Things didn't go so well.

The feeling has dissipated somewhat, though. It's wonderful beyond description to have a roommate again - I don't really know why, since I generally prefer living alone, but something about living in a freezing basement with no cell phone service can make one feel lonely.

Beverly, meanwhile, is actively pursuing greener pastures back in New Hampshire. She's dumped Josh (no surprise there) in favor of a Manchesterite whom, as I can tell from the amount I've heard about him, she so far adores. In general, too, as I understand it, she had a better time during Winter Break than any of us here at Knox could provide her over Fall Term. So, she's decided to transfer to a school in New Hampshire, UNH I'm guessing. Heartbreaking, I almost could have seen us making our fake marriage work for years, but I suppose these things do happen. At least our 30,000-page prenup will help us sort out all the stuff we don't have.

My books are going to be expensive.
