I think I officially have been dealing with the world's most stubbron horse and I wouldn't rule out some Jack Ass blood in there somewhere (well I will b/c I have the breeding papers but have to wonder).
My mom has a 7 year old mare that has had 2+ years of professional training but mom just can't ride her anymore. She is trained English though you can ride her western but mom's knees just can't take it anymore. So one of the girls from Makaila's 4H group has been riding her and is going to show her.
This horse has been in our horse trailer at least a hundred times but all of a sudden she will not go into the trailer. Absolutely refuses...braces up and will not budge. In the last week to 10 days we've spent more than 10 hours trying to get her in the trailer. She has missed two training sessions for 4H and one horse show (2 but the second was canceled b/c rain). We have a huge show coming up this weekend so we were trying to get help and everyone says that we need to feed her out of the trailer b/c she's not scared of it she's just being ornery.
So I back the trailer up to the round pen (btw I SUCK at backing up trailers) and we get it set up so that she cannot graze b/c she is in round pen and Heidi has her standing in front of the trailer, I walk in and put hay in the feed bunk, rub Candy on the nose, walk out and Heidi cues her and she walks right into the trailer.
WTF>>>>>>>>
So we put up the but bar and she stands in there and eats just as calm as can be.
When she finishes we let her out and try to get her back in but no dice.....
So we will continue to work her this way but that little shit is being just that.....a little shit.
Horses are like men. Can't live with them and can't shoot them.
The kids cry too much and the bodies are a bitch to get rid of!!!!
