Happy Thanksgiving.............
There are definate
advantages to having twin 16 year old daughters. After years of
them learning to cook at my mother and my hips, this year it finally
paid off.
Since I had to work all day today and the kids had their third early
dismissal for the month they spent the day with my mom preparing for
Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow (technically today).
I am not allowed to show up to any family function without my Wild Rice
Casserole and pickle pinwheels. Also, my four layer dessert,
which is forgiven in the summer months if refridgeration is not
available. So today they made the casserole and pickles along
with green bean casserole. Helped mom make corn casserole, sweet
potato casserole, apple pie and our version of cherry cheesecake.
So the only thing I have to worry about is my dessert.
Did I mention I love my girls?? Worked their butts off today!!!!
Just before I left work the hubby called and was ranting that the kids
did not break down pop boxes to take out to the garbage like he asked
(we have accumulated a rather large collection of them) I just wanted
to slap him.
I reminded him that instead of having to come home and spend half the
night cooking, which he could have betted his ass he would have been
chopping veggies, we were able to come home after a long day and
relax. Also, we were looking forward to a wonderful meal the next
day spent with those same kids. Wouldn't he rather spend a
pleasant day vs. spending the day with the kids wishing he'd fall into
a black hole and disappear?
For the first time in a very long time he actually listened to me and
did not start world war III. Had he done so especially in front
of my mom, when her granddaughters had spent all day helping her
cook........would have left him to spend thanksgiving day eating his
meal outside in our predicted high of 27 with 20 to 30 mph winds.
Never let it be said my hubby doesn't think with his stomach and his
place secured in front of the TV watching football!!!!
Other news......on Saturday I
went to the local cosmetology college and had 10 inches cut off of my
hair, got layers and color. Whoot!!!! Unfortunately my hair
had such terrible split ends that I was unable to donate it for locks
of love.......maybe next time. Feels like I've lost twenty pounds
off my head.
For those of you low on funds I recommend going to your local
cosmetology college.........the girls do a good job and since they are
in training they are up on the current trends. Jennifer, the gal
who did my hair, did an excellent job and she was not afraid to use a
straight razor when texturizing my hair. With hair as thick
as mine razors work best but many people are intimidated by them.
Interesting note......even getting 10" off my hair still lands at the
top of my shoulders. I didn't realize it had gotten that long!!!!
Hope that you all have something
to be thankful for..........are surrounded by friends and
family..........have a warm place to sit...........and plenty to
eat...........God Bless!!!!
