Journal Prompts

Dec 04, 2015 13:27

My muses have been MIA so I'm going to give this a go. Shamelessly stolen from fairyniamh.

(I can never remember how to make one of those tiny text boxes so I'll just insert a cut.)

1. What is the biggest barrier between you and full honesty in your journaling?
The biggest barrier is that I don't want to come across as a whiner. I almost never journal here ( Read more... )

it's all about me, i write therefore i am

I understand the not wanting to feel like a whiner. Do I ever.

I do have to say, that from my own experience, I feel happier in general when I take the time to post the happy things that happen. At the same time that I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, I'm finding that positive posting makes me feel more positive.

And then, while I can't say that there is time every day to read what everyone is doing, I do like to stop and smell your roses every now and then!

YAY for you posting!

You, as always, make excellent points!!! How does one post "Yay Good News" without sounding like bragging? I'll have to try to remember to do it more often!

I also love peeks inside the lives of others!

You're listening to Dean Martin! *loves* Not that this has anything to do with anything, but they changed a street name here to Dean Martin Drive (and the frontage road off the freeway is Frank Sinatra Drive). Um, not that you care, but yeah.

Okay so yes - I totally get that. I kind of stopped journaling about 'stuff' for those exact reasons. It felt like no one read any of it so why bother, right? But the point of journaling is to open up to yourself more than anything. Helping you to look at a problem or situation in another light. You write something out, go back and look at it and think, "Wow, I overreacted a bit" or something like that.

In addition... this IS your space and if you need to whine, vent, or roll your eyes at yourself, that's what it's there for. Know what I mean, jellybean?

I like these prompts though. A nice variety of odd things to talk about that ought to be fun.

End babbling. :)

Isn't Dean Martin just random? Only at Christmas!! I do care about the change of street names. I care about the most random things you can possibly imagine.

You are so right - it's my space and if I want to whine, no one is obligated to read it!

Thank you. And feel free to babble any time!!!

I love Dean Martin but then, I'm a weirdo (or so I'm told). Hey, randomness makes for interesting discoveries. :)

Exactly! And it really, truly has mental health benefits.

Welcome! One day, you might regret telling me to babble. :) But not today. :D

I posted them in hopes of someone else playing along. Be careful though, Kaige and I both have developed a slight addiction to writing daily.

I don't care if someone thinks I am whine bucket when I am on my own blog, but i understand where you are coming from. Kaige is usually the only one who will respond to any of my blogging. I read everything on my f-list. I sometimes don't respond because of reasons.

(Story out of my fandom, too confused to respond...)

In case you want to create the text area, the code it is at the start of the text textarea and /textarea at the end of the text, between > and <. Yeah, I have random codes trapped in my brain. XD It comes from years of website building back when it all had to be coded. *shrugs*

Love the prompts!!! I'll try that code because I can never seem to remember it!

Write on!!! Thanks again.

You need to use this journal in the way you feel the most comfortable and not how you think it should be done, and in order for you to feel the most comfortable, you can't worry about what people think of your posts. Easier said then done but this is your space, use it as you must.

If you want to get deeply personal and place the journal on friends lock or if you want to leave it unlocked, that is entirely your call. This lj is all about how comfortable you feel like sharing. Do not stress :)

"Not how you think it should be done." OMG. I have permission to do it the way I want? I am the consummate youngest child - I need to please those around me.

I will do what I can to make my journal my own. You give excellent advice!

XOXOXO

YES to what everyone else says! Other people's lives are randomly interesting and sometimes not - LOL. But we can choose to read or not. And answer, or not!

I find that I don't write nearly as much as I used to, but I still like getting things down, no matter how many read or don't read. Sometimes I know they're probably wondering who took over my brain today and quite understand if no one responds, but sometimes I just need a comment or two to feel better.

But yeah, write what you want; there's no judging, and if there is, filter the judges out next time! ;-))
