Usually when I post here, it's because I'm unhappy about something. Today on the American holiday of Thanksgiving, I think it's appropriate to use this space to list those things for which I am very thankful.
- My two sisters: Like with all families, we've had our good times and bad. But no matter what, we are here for each other. I cannot imagine my life without them in it.
- My six dogs: They are rays of sunshine on four paws. Yes there are times they annoy me but the love and acceptance they give freely makes it worth every poop inside the house.
- My friends, IRL and virtual: It is reassuring to me that I have friends to whom I can turn when I need guidance, help, reassurance that it's "not just me," love and support. Thank you all for being here when I need you.
- Going back to school: I've learned a lot about subjects which were a total mystery to me previously. I'm grateful for the chance to return to school even when it's on my very last nerve.
- My job in the tutoring center: It's a great job where I am afforded the opportunity to help and guide students who truly want to understand. I'm also very lucky that it is a job that pays pretty well but if I need time off, I'm never given grief over it.
- The roof over my head: Our house is warm, dry, and filled with love. I know that many people aren't so lucky and I never want to take for granted that we are blessed with a safe place to live.
- The food we just finished eating: I know we should never take for granted the food we have to eat. So many people have no idea where their next meal will come from, we're blessed to have more food than we can eat in one sitting.
What are you especially thankful for? Won't you let us know?
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends and Happy (almost) weekend to everyone not celebrating the holiday today!
