Things You Discover When You Have Insomnia

Last night, I was doing my 3D programming way too late. I should have known not to do it up until the minute I went to bed.

Way back when, I had a Nintendo and loved to play Tetris. But I couldn’t play it too close to bedtime because it would inevitably keep me awake. It wires a part of my brain that I generally use a lot less - having no sense of spatial relationships. Theoretically, I should suck at Tetris but I don’t.

The same thing happened last night. I couldn’t get my brain to shut down so I could sleep. In my insomnia, I discovered several very unimportant things which I am naturally going to share with you!

• Sister Christian by Night Ranger is apparently about prostitution. Huh. Who knew?
• Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite songs, ever. We even named our Newfoundland Kashmir after the song. But the song doesn’t make sense. What is it about? As many times as I’ve listened to it, I still have no idea.
• Apparently Rachel was pregnant with Grace for approximately 13 months. In the 9/11 episode, Danny and Rachel had recently found out they were having a baby. Danny had a picture of the sonogram so Rachel had to have been about 6 weeks along, right? But in the second episode of the show, Grace tells Danno she wants a pink squishy football for her birthday. The second episode would have been a couple of weeks at most after John McGarrett was murdered. We know he was killed in September (although now I can’t find a screencap of his tombstone.)
• Not sleeping makes concentrating at school much more difficult. Today is my day to work in the tutoring center but I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to tutor anyone on anything.

What have you learned recently that you need/want to share?

yes i am whining, the real world is only good for visiting
