5 Icons Meme
So despite my limited time, I accepted a meme challenge from bas_math_girl. Here are the rules:
1. Reply to this post with "CRYSTALLOGRAPHY!", and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
And here's the results of my meddling with yet another feature of LJ, and the ones that BMG chose (until I figure out more of the features, I'm uploading directly from my computer), done mostly in the order she picked:
If you couldn't tell, I was a Star Trek Voyager fan at one point. My two favorite characters were Janeway and Paris. I liked their dynamic, and I also quickly became convinced (by the fifth aired episode) that he had at least a major crush on her. I call this one my "Awkward" icon. It looks like something really unsettling just happened. Janeway seems like she's focusing on being all captain-like, Paris is looking to her for guidence, and the EMH (I can no longer call him The Doctor, and I guess some of you could guess why I might feel that way) is thinking about how crazy humanoids are.
Don't remember which episode this came from. Probably no later than early Season 3, as she's wearing the Bun of Steel. Pretty sure I picked it up from the JuPiter Station, the Janeway/Paris fanfiction archive. Which is no longer up. Too bad. I was a narrative challenge queen there; must've posted a few dozen prompts, which led to a number of stories. (clicks tongue)
This one I call my Worried icon. They've been trapped in the past of a pre-interspace travel capable planet, unknowing about the cause and unable to tell the people that desctruction is coming their way. The episode was "Time and Again," Season 1, episode 3. They're also in trouble with the locals, since some have gotten suspicious. I see in this one their similiar backgrounds as children of Starfleet officers, and how they both can see the person beyond the rank. (I think that was part of the attraction of the pairing to me; I just had the sense that they respected those distinctions.)
Ah... My original "best friends in denial" pairing: Alex Eames and Bobby Goren of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." They've been the subject of 12 of my fanfiction stories, all of which are up on FF.N, and remain two characters I'm deeply fond of. And got angry over the treatment of. Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'Onofrio are two of my favorite actors (probably my two fave stateside ones), and were completely amazing in these roles. The evolution of the partners' bond over their nine seasons (since they were absent for all but two episodes of Season 9 - and their exit was one of the things that angered me about the show) was fascinating to me from more than one standpoint: writer, fan, observer of what I thought made relationships work, and psychology major.
This is from Episode 1 of Season 3: "Undaunted Mettle." Bobby is explaining what a particular design on a window is referencing. I call it both "pedantic" and "explanatory." Pretty sure I got it from "Untapped Treasure," a fansite dedicated to Kathryn, and that name comes from a description of her talents by one director.
Ah, yes! "Frustrated" is my description of this one. Their expressions are all, "Okay, we're in a sh*tty situation. What now?" (snorts) I also just love the image of them sitting together on that rooftop. Two people who are simply... lovely people. In practically every way... Must've gotten it from somewhere here on LJ. Wish I remembered who so I could give credit...
I really have to explain this one?! It's the sweetest scene I've ever seen on TV! If DT wasn't playing Ten as growing/falling in love with Donna at that moment, I'd like to know what he DID intend to come across! This moment makes me want to melt into a puddle of goo. A very contented puddle... And no, don't remember who made this one first. I'd like to thank them!
Well, that was interesting. Back to my regularly scheduled writing spree! This has to be the first time I've posted three times in a single day since I couldn't sleep and put up every chapter I had ready of "The Belted Doctor."
