Man! I let it cool off, but on twitter, there was/is this huge argument about how all furry conventions should ban all puppy play masks.
Here's a quote from some person:
"hope every fucking furry con bans pup play masks in public. gross. dont wear that shit around me my guy.
im not spending 1000+ to travel to a convention to have my cute fursuit photoshoot ruined by a group of some dudes in boot cut Levi's & dog fetish masks who are loitering in the lobby right next to kids & Normies LOL"
I mean, I can see and understand the argument about not wearing extremely showy fetish gear such as being able to see an obvious bulge, but we're only talking about a hood! So even seeing a hood on someone wearing regular clothes should also be banned according to this guy.
Honestly, this week long argument bothered me for all of a couple hours because there's really no point to it argue with it. So many times did I write up a reply to someone being offensive, but then backspaced it and just moved on. I thought furry was pretty accepting (and I still believe it is as a whole) though ya got a bunch of LOUD people, and you know how that works.
"Don't wear kink gear to furry cons." That sounds a lot like a 'normie' telling furries not to wear their fursuit anywhere. I mean, I guess you could compare it to ComicCon or BlizzCon or some other convention telling furries "No fursuits, because that's too kinky".
Just a minor vent, not really a discussion I will get too involved in. I will continue to be my dumb puppy self whenever I want. I am pretty respectful about what I wear, where I wear it and even what time I wear it, so if a convention wants to ban me...that's pretty sad.
What's next on the list
"No fursuits can wear a harness/collar/leash"
Maybe "Fursuit characters must wear clothes so they aren't naked."
How 'bout "Fursuits must be in "A" quality range to be shown publicly or made by specific makers."
The more and more restrictions we put on our fandom, the more it will hurt itself.
Personally, I'd like to see the complaints be directed more where they are needed, such as furries drinking themselves to death or doing illegal drugs in the room/stairwell, etc. There are real problems among us compared to "He's wearing something that bugs me."
So...see you at FC! Wish it were MFF, but maybe next year ^_^ *Loves n wags n hugs all over*
