Friends Like Enemies: The Movie?
For those of you that don't remember, I have written a book. It's a book that I wrote when I was in high school, but it's still a book. It's the only significant thing I can recall ever actually finishing. And yesterday I was contemplating the possibility of turning it into a screenplay.
I was sitting in front of my computer, staring blankly at my script for "Inverted", when I realized I already had a set of fully developed, fleshed out characters with their own story, and I could go the lazy route and just re-use them. And, hell, even tell the exact same story while I was at it! I spent almost a whole year completely obsessed with these characters, and honestly, it shows in the writing. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but even years later I can still connect with these characters, and they feel more real than any other original characters I've ever written. So I think this is the right choice.
