Challenge Eight: Rec Things

Good lord, but I've been slack on reading--really anything--this last year.

But here is a small list of fantastic things I read at this year's Yuletide--a lot of it being RPF which I wasn't specifically seeking out, but there you go.

The first one doesn't read like RPF really, it reads like dream-casting of a movie I've never seen. Which, I think is really what it is... somehow. Anyway, this is lovely.

Still Life (6127 words) by eleanor_lavish
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Object Lesson (Fictional Movie Trailer), Actor RPF
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Jake Gyllenhaal/James McAvoy
Characters: Jake Gyllenhaal, James McAvoy
Additional Tags: Dom/sub Undertones, Way Undernegotiated Kink, men who are bad at feelings, People who are still figuring their shit out in their 30s, Rimming, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Non-Consensual Voyeurism, Drinking to Cope, Reference to past institutionalization, Anal Fingering, Face-Fucking, Hopeful Ending
Summary:

Jake comes back to himself in pieces, from the tingling of his fingers to the ringing in his ears, then to the fine, dull ache in his knees and his back and his throat. His face is pressed against James’s shoulder where they’re both sprawled gracelessly on the carpet. James is petting his back in wide, slow strokes. Jake tenses, waiting for the question, an “are you good?” or maybe “did you like that?”

“You want some tea?” James finally says, and Jake is so relieved he could cry.

This one is just ridiculously fun and cute (as these two people just are). What I liked most though (besides the shameless flirting throughout) is that they are cast together (based on their chemistry on Good Omens no doubt) in a Romantic Comedy and it's just like, no big deal to have a romantic movie about two men doing all the tropey things that romantic comedies do. Not Gay Romantic Comedies, just Rom-Coms in general. ♥ ♥

Relationships: Michael Sheen/David Tennant
Characters: Michael Sheen, David Tennant
Additional Tags: First Time, Polyamory, Friends to Lovers, Flirting, Oral Sex, Background Relationships, Embedded Images
Summary:
“Oh, you know that’s going to put the internet in a tizzy.” David’s not exactly objecting to the visual of him scrunched up laughing while Michael aims to plant one on him, but he knows precisely the reaction it’s going to garner even if he’ll not be seeing it directly. Barrowman for one will surely be texting him about it within the hour using the phrase ‘horny slut’ in some context. “But have at it.”

Michael slides his arm away from David’s shoulder and starts composing a tweet. “It’s like advance PR for our film.”

A sweet little diddy written for me and that needs more love. ♥ Katharine Hepburn is my favorite basically human of all time and I love the idea of friendship (or maybe more) between her and Lauren Bacall--who is also glorious. ♥ ♥

Somehow, Lauren finds toast on the set of The African Queen. Just one more thing for Katharine to admire her for.

And speaking of Katharine Hepburn, not RPF (though there were actors very much alive in my head while reading this as the characterizations from the movie were SO GOOD!) This was written for me too and I just love it so much! If you've seen The Philadelphia Story then you NEED o read this. If you haven't seen the movie, then you ABSOLUTELY need to stop what you are doing and watch it. It is amazing!
