Well once again its that time of night when I should be in bed, but I find something else to do instead. Tonight's activity: update this thing. Last few days have been pretty hectic and all with the end of the semester, and then next few should be as well with finals, but with my study habits, they won't be. If I'm productive, I will be able to put in 1-2 hours of studying per class, and if not, less. Last week I had a paper due that I thought was pretty bad, but I got back today and got a B+ on. Then today I had a big presentation in class, and I still have to do the paper by Friday, but that shouldn't be too bad. Over the weekend when I should've been working, I of course did other things instead. Friday night I went to the Capitals-Red Wings game in DC, which was fun. Caps lost 4-3, but I had a good time. Saturday I actually worked most of the day I think, and then Sunday I went back to DC to see Fairfield get clobbered by Georgetown in basketball. Not a great game, but I got to see my fellow Stag alumni Marta and Heather, neither of whom I had seen I think since graduation a year and a half ago. After that, I came back to campus to work, and then to my second game of the day to see Maryland beat those Big East traitor, financial aid revoking bitches from BC. Serves them right! So, I clearly did not do as much as I could have, but I got it done by class today, and I think I did a pretty good job as well. Also in the sports field, Maryland men's soccer won the national championship on Sunday, to go with their field hockey national championship won a month ago. Its quite a bit different atmosphere from Fairfield's occaisonal MAAC championship while I was there.
Unfortunately, I have not been doing much Christmas shopping or even generally enjoying the season. When I went into Washington it was so nice to see everything all decorated for the season, not to mention our crazy neighbors here who have not only a manger scene, but also three of those giant inflatable yard decorations, and also of course, have their house decked out in lights. It definitely beats our $50 worth of an artificial tree, lights, beads, and ornaments from Wal-Mart. As much as I hate Wal-Mart, I went for I think the first time since I bought my tree for my apartment in Orlando last year. Nowhere else has trees for anywhere close to the price, and while I would've rather paid a bit more for one from somewhere else, my roomates wouldn't have gone along with it and then we would have no tree at all. So, I figured Wal-Mart was the lesser of the two evils (barely). If I don't end up keeping this same tree for next year, I will probably be seeing Wal-Mart again around this time for my yearly visit. But back to my original point, for probably the 6th year in a row, starting with my freshman year in college, I once again feel like I am missing Christmas. Stupid finals and classes take up so much time. Last year with all Disney's decorations I definitely got in the spirit, but the weather and actually not being home for it made it definitely not the same. I guess I will have to suffer through one more year, and then in 2007 and beyond, I will really get back into the spirit of the season. I am still holding out hope to make it into DC and see the national Christmas tree and maybe do some shopping over the weekend, even if I have to go by myself. I think I will have someone to go with though.
That brings me to another nagging issue, that of my phone. I have had a tough time communicating with anyone lately because my phone is not working. Either I can't hear the person I'm talking to, or there is a ton of static on their end and they can't hear me. I brought it to Verizon to get it fixed, but they told me it apparently got water in it, and therefore cannot be fixed and I will have to buy a new phone. The problem is, I can't upgrade til April, meaning that I would have to pay full retail price ($175+) for a new phone. And to add to the issue, when I told them that I didn't get water in it, they said it could absorb the moisture from the air. How am I supposed to protect against that? Buy their stupid insurance I suppose! Ugh, what an awful mess. I used to really like Verizon, but they have definitely lost a ton of points lately. Too bad I'll never finish the two year contract without upgrading and renewing, so it looks like I'm stuck with Verizon for life. As far as this issue, looks like I'll have to come up with some sort of scam to get them to fix it or give me a new one for the reduced price. Any ideas?
Well maybe its finally time for me to get to bed. Well first, to put the clothes away that have been lying on my bed for two days (I slept with them there yesterday), and then I'll get to bed. But probably not before finding something else to waste my time with first.
