For a country apparently obsessed with the well-being of children, we really do seem to drop the ball where it counts.

Good point. If I may add...let us (and that includes the media) not be so quick to judge and condemn the case worker for missing or not knowing something. If the caseworkers had smaller caseloads perhaps they would be able to give each case the individual attention it needs and make better, more astute judgments as to the child and/or family's needs. This of course, is no excuse for falsifying records because you didn't have time to do it right.

Perhaps if DCF didn't choose to harrass people who are obviously good and caring parents they could lighten their caseloads just a little and get to the people who really need their help.

No. I won't be forgiving DCF any time soon.

If they had better funding, they could screen their employees better and hold them to a higher standard. Then they might have people that are qualified to, and have the time to, use better judgment.

Except that like any government agency they would not screen anything given more money. They'd just waste the money like every other part of government does.

So what's the solution, shut them down entirely, and have nobody to deal with the cases that aren't harassment?
