Shanghai vs. San Francisco weather
Shanghai:
Lat/Lon: 31.4° N 121.5° E
4* C, 81% humidity, overcast
aka roughly 39* F
San Francisco:
Lat/Lon: 37.8° N 122.4° W
15* C, 62% humidity, party cloudy
aka roughly 59* F
WHY? *cries* SF is 6* north in latitude and also 20* F warmer! Argh!
I'm freezing BTW. My classmates think it's sort of funny because I arrive with 3 layers of shirts (long shirt, cashmere sweater, outside North Face down jacket), two layers of pants (wool underpants and cargo pants outside), wool socks, scarf, hat, and fingerless gloves. I'm told it will get down to -5* C later in the winter. I am not looking forward to it.
I tried to tell my sister that oceans are supposed to be heat sinks - apparently China got the bad end of the deal - and regulate temperatures and I expected weather to be always between 60-90* F. Being in Philly, she has no sympathy for me as it is 6.9* C / 44.4* F over there.
-sigh- I'm such a California girl.
